| BY News Team

The Tour de France is one of the biggest events in world sport, and William Hill News examine what promises to be another thrilling showdown.

We take a look at the Tour de France outright betting market, the leading General Classification contenders and our predictions for who could lift the famous trophy.

The General Classification is where cycling’s biggest stars are judged, with three weeks of climbing, time trials, endurance tests and tactical battles deciding who becomes the overall champion. Here, we look at the top five riders in the market for the Tour de France General Classification winner.

Tour de France winner prediction

It looks incredibly tough to beat Tadej Pogacar at the top of the market, with the Slovenian once again the rider everyone has to overcome. However, the value may lie with the ever-reliable Jonas Vingegaard Hansen at 4/1. The Dane has proven time and again that he thrives under the pressure of the Tour de France, and with his climbing ability and experience on the biggest stage, he could be the one to challenge Pogacar.

Tadej Pogacar (2/7)

Tadej Pogacar has established himself as one of the greatest cyclists of his generation. The Slovenian superstar, born in Komenda, Slovenia, has become the benchmark rider in modern cycling thanks to his ability to dominate across almost every terrain.

His biggest strengths are his explosive climbing, exceptional time-trialling ability and tactical intelligence. Pogacar can attack from distance in the mountains but is also capable of producing huge performances against the clock. His versatility makes him the clear favourite at 2/7.

After already proving himself on the biggest stages, Pogacar enters the Tour de France as the man everyone wants to beat. While his odds reflect his dominance, the challenge will be maintaining peak form across three demanding weeks.

Jonas Vingegaard Hansen (4/1)

Jonas Vingegaard Hansen has become Pogacar’s biggest rival in recent Tour de France battles. The Danish rider from Hillerslev, Denmark, has built a reputation as one of the most consistent Grand Tour cyclists in the world.

His greatest weapon is his climbing ability, particularly on long mountain stages where his endurance and pacing make him extremely difficult to drop. Vingegaard Hansen also has the mental strength and experience needed to handle the pressure of fighting for yellow.

At 4/1, he looks like the main value alternative to Pogacar. If he arrives at the race in top condition, his ability to peak over three weeks could make him a serious contender to reclaim cycling’s biggest prize.

Paul Seixas (7/1)

Paul Seixas represents the next generation of cycling talent and is one of the most exciting names in the market. The French rider has quickly gained attention as a future Grand Tour star, with fans hoping he can become a home favourite capable of challenging for the yellow jersey.

Seixas’ biggest strengths are his all-round ability, climbing potential and maturity beyond his years. He has shown impressive performances against experienced riders and has the skill set needed to develop into a complete GC contender.

At 7/1, expectations are high, but his potential makes him an interesting name in the outright market. A strong Tour performance could mark the beginning of a new era in French cycling.

Florian Lipowitz (14/1)

Florian Lipowitz is one of the leading German riders emerging on the Grand Tour scene. The talented climber has impressed with his consistency and ability to handle difficult mountain stages, making him an intriguing contender at 14/1.

His strengths lie in his climbing, endurance and ability to maintain a high level across demanding stage races. Lipowitz has shown he can compete with elite riders and continues to develop as a potential future GC challenger.

While he may not have the same experience as some of the favourites, his improvement curve makes him a rider to watch. If the race opens up, Lipowitz could be well placed to take advantage.

Remco Evenepoel (16/1)

Remco Evenepoel is one of the most naturally gifted cyclists in the world. The Belgian rider from Schepdaal, Belgium, has already achieved major success and is known for his incredible time-trialling ability and attacking style.

Evenepoel’s biggest strength is racing against the clock, where he is among the very best in the sport. He also has the climbing ability to compete at Grand Tour level, although maintaining consistency through three weeks remains the key challenge.

At 16/1, he offers an interesting option for those looking beyond the leading two names. If he can improve his performance on the toughest mountain stages, Evenepoel has the quality to challenge for the podium and potentially more.
