Tour of Britain 2025 Predictions & Betting Tips

First held shortly after the Second World War, the Tour of Britain has long been a staple of the cycling calendar.

Powerhouses of cycling betting have won the event in the past, including Bradley Wiggins and Lars Boom.

With the race winding through British towns and villages, some people who might not have more than a passing interest in sports betting can gain interest in road cycling as they see some of the world’s best whizz past their homes and workplaces.

When Does the Tour of Britain Start?

The 2025 Tour of Britain begins on September 2. The first stage is from Woodbridge to Southwold.

The second stage is a 174-kilometre circuit, starting and finishing in Stowmarket before the race goes from Milton Keynes to Ampthill for the third day of competition. The final three stages see major climbs after a relatively flat start to the race.

How Long is the Tour of Britain?

Starting on September 2, the Tour of Britain concludes on September 7 in Cardiff, as a tribute to Geraint Thomas, who will retire from professional cycling after the race.

It is considerably shorter than the Grand Tours, which run for several weeks. The length of the Tour of Britain has fluctuated over the years, with no standardised duration for the race.

A six-day event, as we are getting in 2025, is shorter than in many other years since the Tour of Britain returned from a brief hiatus earlier this century.

Impact of the Tour

Seeing elite road cycling up close can be huge for the growth of the sport. This takes cycling to areas of the country that don’t see much top-level sport, so the legacy of the Tour of Britain can be felt for years to come if this inspires people to get involved in cycling.

British riders are inevitably the best-supported throughout the event, with people lining the streets to watch the races fly past. Local economies can also benefit from the exposure, as noted by the head of Warwickshire County Council.

George Finch said, “What a thrill to see some of the world’s finest riders race through Warwickshire’s stunning countryside, showcasing the county’s intriguing history, heritage and many points of interest along the way…

“We want this event to write a new chapter in the story of Warwickshire and to spotlight parts of the country that might not be as well known to people from other parts of the UK, and indeed the world.”
