Premier League Darts Night 11 Preview: All to play for in Aberdeen

Premier League darts betting odds

The Premier League is still wide open and it’s almost impossible to pick a winner from the front-runners. All but one participant has managed to win a Night, with Michael van Gerwen and Jonny Clayton picking up multiple victories.

This week we’re in Aberdeen for Night 11, where ‘The Machine’ James Wade will be looking to pick up back-to-back Night wins. He currently sits third in the table after weeks of consistent performances and looks like a solid hope for the playoffs.

In this blog, we take a look at matchups for Night 11 of the Premier League.

Go Jonny go

Jonny Clayton is at the head of the betting for Night 11 in Aberdeen, as currently the 16/5 favourite and it’s not hard to see why. The Ferret rarely has an off day and consistently carries a strong run of form. Clayton has reached the semi-finals in each of the last four Premier League meetings, reaching the final in one of those. He also had a strong run in the German Grand Prix, reaching the quarter-final before being narrowly edged out by Damon Heta.

Clayton faces Gary Anderson in his opening game on Thursday. It’s difficult to predict which Anderson will turn up, as when at his best, he could win major after major, but he lacks the consistency to do so. Anderson won Night 6 but has yet to reach a final since and currently sits bottom of the table on seven points. He’ll be hoping for a big performance and is 14/1 to become a multiple Night winner.

Snakebite searching for form

Wright has been struggling for form as of late, being dumped out of the German Grand Prix in the first round and losing in his opening Premier League game of Night 10. He’s made it clear that he will put a stop to tinkering with his darts between tournaments, stating that he’s “fed up with giving people chances”. Of course, World Champions find a way, and Wright will be hoping that a Night win here will springboard him back to his best. He’s currently third favourite to win the Night at 4/1.

Snakebite will face Joe Cullen in his opening game, a player who has gone from strength to strength in this year’s competition. Cullen has reached the final on three separate occasions so far, most recently in a losing effort to James Wade last week. Although it’s his debut in the competition, he’s proved that he has what it takes to go all the way, winning Night 7 in style against Michael van Gerwen. It will be a tough night for The Rockstar, starting with Peter Wright and then the winner between Clayton and Anderson. He’s 9/1 to reach his second consecutive final and go one step further.

MVG looking to make it Four

Mighty Mike currently sits at the top of the Premier League table and has the most amount of Night wins (3). He loves the Premier League and it’s clear that the new format of the competition plays to his strengths. He went out in his first game against Johnny Clayton last week, but bounced back over the weekend, reaching the semi-finals of the German Grand Prix before being whitewashed by the eventual winner Luke Humphries. MVG is currently the second favourite to pick up his fourth Premier League Night win, priced at 7/2.

Standing in his way is a mouth-watering first-round clash against world number two Gerywn Price. Price had to pull out of the German Grand Prix over the weekend due to suspected tonsillitis but has confirmed via social media that he is flying up to Aberdeen. Price has had a turbulent Premier League thus far and is 5/1 to be the overall Night winner.

The Machine could go back-to-back

As mentioned previously, James Wade has been ‘Mr. Consistent’ in this year’s competition and finally won his first Night last week, having reached the final both weeks beforehand. He’ll be hoping for not just his fourth consecutive final appearance, but a second Premier League Night win. He’s making a strong case for himself and is 10/1 to be the overall winner in Aberdeen.

He faces Michael Smith in his opening round. Smith hasn’t been having the best of times in the Premier League, being the only man to not win a Night so far. He’s come close, reaching the final on both Night 5 and 6 but was unable to win either. He’ll be desperate to get an elusive Night win next to his name and is 8/1 to do so here.
