Premier League Darts Night 11 preview: Price is Right, but Littler’s Out of Sight

| BY News Team

Premier League Night 11 is here! All eyes turn to Birmingham for what we expect to be an eventful evening at the oche with some top matchups. There are now just six weeks left for players to work their way into a play-off spot so we envisage the players to be at the top of their game.

We preview all four of the matches below.

Peter Wright v Luke Humphries (19:15)

Peter Wright was unlucky on Night 10 to have run into a rampant Gerwyn Price in his opening match. Price did not give Wright an opportunity to get himself in front, but when he did get his chance at doubles, he did take them hitting four from four. If Wright can continue that perfect double hitting, there is no reason why he can’t take Luke Humphries on. Wright had a three-dart average of 109.52 and was playing by far his best darts of the Premier League to date. Luke Humphries also lost his Night 10 quarter final, and he only hit one maximum in his attempt to take down fellow Englishman Michael Smith. If the players both play in a similar fashion, then we think Peter Wright could shock Luke Humphries with his new found form. Peter Wright is 16/5 to beat Luke Humphries.

Rob Cross v Luke Littler (19:45)

Luke Littler comes into Night 11 off the back of winning the last two Nights of the Premier League. He seems to have found his confidence in the competition and we can’t see Rob Cross stopping the Littler train. Nothing seems to phase Luke Littler at the oche, if his doubling is letting him down, then his scoring picks him up and vice versa. Rob Cross has been playing okay this competition, but he doesn’t seem to be throwing darts that will challenge Luke Littler’s. This will be a Luke Littler party and he can win this in style. Wayne Mardle agrees with us and therefore we are enhancing the price of the match treble – Luke Littler Win Match, Highest Match Checkout and Most 180s is now 15/8

Gerwyn Price v Michael Smith (20:15)

Gerwyn Price had his best night of the season last week, throwing some sensational arrows. Including a perfect 9-darter against none other than Michael Smith in the semifinals. We think this match will be a continuation of last week’s semis, with Price’s darts going where he wants them. Price needs points if he wants to put himself in the play-off spots and this could give him that extra drive to see him through against Michael Smith. Smith did play well last week in his quarters when beating Humphries, but as we said ,the Iceman seems to be back at his best! We think Price will win, but we all know how much Smith likes his maximums, therefore we see value in the alternative match treble – Gerwyn Price Win Match and Highest Match Checkout – Michael Smith Most 180s is 9/2.

Michael van Gerwen v Nathan Aspinall (20:45)

This is a huge game in the play-off race as both players currently sit in 3rd and 4th for the play-off spots. The loser of this game could find themselves in a bit of trouble with regards to points in six weeks’ time, especially as the winner would find themselves up against one of Michael Smith or Gerwyn Price, who at this moment in time look to be the players that are chasing down these spots. That is what is so good about the Premier League, every game means something and it really puts the pressure on the players to perform at the highest of levels at all times. This should be a very tight game, and we think it will go the distance and finish 6-5 either way, much like it did on Night 12 this time last year, and we think Aspinall will beat Michael van Gerwen 6-5 which is 13/2.
