Premier League Darts Night 6 preview: Rob to leave MVG Cross

| BY News Team

Premier League Night 6 is here! Such is the beauty of this format that once more we’ve got an exciting schedule ahead of us, with a sequel of the PDC World Darts Championship Final between Luke Humphries and Luke Littler on the opening night in Brighton.

We preview all four of the matches below.

Luke Humphries v Gerwyn Price (19:15)

Our first matchup of the evening sees the World number one Luke Humphries take on Gerwyn Price, who as of yet hasn’t been fully firing in 2024. Price finds himself 7th in the Premier League current standings, with only 5 points. That being said, his quarter final competitor, Luke Humphries, is only one place above on 7 points, so this should be a close game based on form.

In Humphries’ quarter final victory against Michael van Gerwen, he didn’t play too well despite the 6-3 success. He only had a checkout percentage of 28.57%, having only hit 6 out of 21 doubles. Luke’s three-dart average was okay at 92.03, however with big scorers like Littler, Smith and Aspinall this isn’t anything to write home about.

We think that Price will show up in Brighton and bounce back from his recent humbling at the hands of Rob Cross. The alternative match-treble looks the value – Gerwyn Price Win Match and Highest Match Checkout – Luke Humphries Most 180s

Rob Cross v Michael van Gerwen (19:45)

Rob Cross was sensational on Night 5 and fell just short to finish runner-up. In his quarter final victory against Gerwyn Price he had a three-dart average of 109.69 and never gave Price an opportunity at getting close to him. He also hit 6 of his 10 doubles.

Michael van Gerwen won the night in Liverpool in last year’s Premier League and has won three of the five nights so far this year, so we wouldn’t be surprised if he goes the full length of Night 6 too. However, we are opposing him tomorrow night for the value – Rob Cross was so good last week and we can see him doing the same against the best player of 2024. A good looking selection would be Rob Cross Most 180s & Rob Cross Highest Match Checkout at 3/1.

Nathan Aspinall v Luke Littler (20:15)

The penultimate quarter final is between last week’s winner Nathan Aspinall and fan favourite Luke Littler. Aspinall played unbelievably last week, beating Peter Wright, Luke Humphries and Rob Cross, with a 96.2 three dart average across the three games. Luke Littler has been a brilliant addition to the Premier League oche this year, bringing vast amounts of entertainment to our sporting screens. Littler swept Michael Smith aside last week averaging 106.97 having hit 5 maximums. Littler is a proven consistent high scorer, which we think will edge him past last week’s winner. This ties in with the alternative match treble, as we think Littler will score big and leave Aspinall no choice but to checkout highly, so look no further than Luke Littler to win the match and Most 180s, with Nathan Aspinall Highest Match Checkout at 11/2.

Michael Smith v Peter Wright (20:45)

The final quarter final of the evening sees both Michael Smith and Peter Wright take to the oche, with both players not in flying form recently. Smith struggled last week against Luke Littler, while Wright is yet to win a game in the 2024 Premier League – and we can’t see that changing in Brighton.

This will quite simply be a Michael Smith match treble and also represents Wayne Mardle’s Pick – Michael Smith Win Match, Highest Match Checkout and Most 180s is now the enhanced price of 3/1.
