World Cup of Darts Predictions: Littler and Humphries to launch England to the top
England head to Frankfurt as odds-on favourites to claim a record 6th World Cup of Darts titles. William Hill News are here to preview Luke Littler and Luke Humphries’ chances of finally delivering together in the sports’ international competition.
The two Lukes arrive in Eissporthalle with a point to prove. A year ago, the pair that had set the darting world alight were stunned by Germany in the last 16, a result that sent shockwaves through the sport and denied England the chance to defend the title Humphries had won alongside Michael Smith in 2024. England return as the number-one seeds, hungrier than ever.
World Cup of Darts Odds
England (Luke Littler & Luke Humphries) – 8/15
Netherlands (Michael van Gerwen & Gian van Veen) – 6/1
Northern Ireland (Josh Rock & Daryl Gurney) – 11/1
Scotland (Gary Anderson & Cameron Menzies) – 11/1
BAR – 20/1
Can Littler and Humphries Deliver?
On recent form, this is the most formidable pairing the tournament might have ever seen. Littler, still only 19, is the reigning PDC World Champion, a two-time Premier League Darts winner, and the most naturally gifted player of his generation. Meanwhile, Humphries is the world number two and is also a PDC World Champion. With these two combining, there is simply no other darts pairing in the world likely to silence them.
The concern of course is their ability to play as a duo. Their 2025 exit in Germany was a shock, but it also serves as a reminder that the doubles format is unforgiving. A bad leg or a missed double can topple even the best teams. However, their motivation going into this tournament will be enormous based on their early exit last year.
Who Could Upset England?
At 6/1, the Netherlands represent the most credible threat to England’s ambitions. The combination fierce of 3-time world champion Michael van Gerwen with world number three and 2025 PDC World Championship finalist Gian van Veen isn’t one to be overlooked. Van Gerwen has been increasingly sharp in recent months, and Gian van Veen hasn’t stopped improving since his run to the final in the world championships last year. The Dutch could be dangerous if England have so much as a slightly off night.
Scotland command respect at 11/1 as Gary Anderson brings a wealth of World Cup experience, and new partner Cameron Menzies has been one of the more exciting players to emerge from the tour.
Defending champions Northern Ireland are also around the 11/1 mark, which reflects the difficult draw they face and the absence of the kind of overwhelming quality that separates the top contenders. Meanwhile, Wales are without Gerwyn Price and look significantly weakened out at 20/1.
Our Prediction
Back England the Lukes to win the World Cup of darts at 8/15. The 2025 exit lit a fire under Littler and Humphries, and this is the tournament that brings the best in players with points to prove. These two have been nothing short of unstoppable when playing solo and they should only improve when joining forces. England simply have more quality than anyone else in Frankfurt.
The supporting case for each-way punters is also strong. The Netherlands are available at 6/1, with van Gerwen and van Veen certainly not lacking any quality. While Scotland at 11/1 could be guiding to the later rounds by World Cup winning maestro Gary Anderson.
