William Hill’s 2023 football predictions and odds

| BY News Team

A new year arrives, and with it, an exciting calendar of football that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

As we settle into 2023, we can only hope for a year as good as the last in football. With new teams threatening the old guard and a brand-new batch of rising stars making their name, we are undoubtedly in for an exciting 12 months.

We’ve taken a look at the latest odds in the biggest club competitions of 2023.

Premier League

The Premier League is always unpredictable and enticing, but there is something about the 2022/23 season that has already gripped hordes of football fans for reasons that haven’t been seen for years.

For the first time since 2017, it looks as if Manchester City and Liverpool will have real difficulty in winning the Premier League title, and as Newcastle United enter the fray, the Premier League could have a very different look on the horizon.

Despite falling behind their now title rivals Arsenal, Manchester City still hold the status of favourites to win the trophy for a third time in a row; it would be the first time since Manchester United did it from 2006-2009, and with odds of 8/13 compared to the Gunners’ 6/4, it is hard to see how this season’s winner will separated by any more than a point or two come the 28th of May.

Following the frontrunners is 13-time winners Manchester United who look to be building under new manager Erik ten Hag and come in at 25/1. After that, the revolutionised Newcastle United are at 33/1, odds that may shorten even further over the coming weeks.

Champions League

Manchester City are favourites to win the Champions League for the first time at 13/8, and looking at how they have fallen short by the finest of margins in previous tournaments, it can only be expected that their elusive first title isn’t far away. Bayern Munich, who seem to pop up sporadically as the best team in Europe, are second in line to claim the trophy for the second time in four years at 6/1, and the team of world superstars that is PSG are close behind at 7/1. Could Lionel Messi have one more major European title up his sleeve before his inevitable retirement?

FA Cup

Another competition that Manchester City are the favourites to win; the FA Cup is the oldest knockout football tournament in existence and will once again feature the best teams in England and some of the most exciting matches the season has to offer. City are the 10/3 favourites and will likely make it to at least the semi-final for the fourth time in five seasons though it would surprise no one if they bottled it once more. Second in line are last season’s winners, Liverpool, who are 6/1, with the 14-time winners Arsenal, third in the betting at 7/1.

Women’s Super League

Chelsea are the favourites to claim the Women’s Super League for the fourth time in a row at 4/9 with the help of Sam Kerr, who is still well on track to win her third WSL top scorer award in three seasons.

Their title rivals, Arsenal, who will be vying to re-establish themselves as the nation’s undisputed best women’s footballing side, are second in line at 7/4. It is likely to be another very close season, and Manchester United look to be the third most likely to claim the top spot at 9/1 for what would be the first title in their history.
