Celtic v Rangers preview: Another Hollywood Old Firm match is on the cards

Two weeks have passed and we’re back to another decisive Old Firm blockbuster.

Celtic and Rangers meet in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden Park on Sunday and we’ve previewed the action below.

More goals for Celtic?

The Scottish Premiership match at the beginning of the month was billed as a title decider, which Celtic won 2-1, while this time around we have the added element of revenge on Rangers’ mind and a place in the Scottish Cup final on the line.

While plenty has changed at both clubs this season, what has been clear is that Ange Postecoglou has revitalised this Celtic team and got them playing in a way that not only goes toe-to-toe with the Rangers Invincible squad, but bested them in their last meeting just two weeks ago. The Celtic fans have dubbed the new way of playing ‘Angeball’.

In between these two meetings with Rangers, Celtic put seven past St Johnstone, with six different scorers, showing just how well rounded this team is going forward. The Hoops now have three players with double-figure hauls this season – Kyogo Furuhashi, Liel Abada and Jota – with Giorgos Giakoumakis trailing just behind on nine and with just 21 games under his belt. Furuhashi is 9/2 to open the scoring, while Abada is 7/1.

Ramsey to inspire Rangers?

From a Rangers point of view, the last Old Firm game got off to a perfect start with Aaron Ramsey making his mark in another boiling derby. Beloved at Arsenal for his cup-winning goals and his ability to put one or two past their North London rivals, Ramsey quickly won the Ibrox fans over with his introduction to Scottish football. It took him just seven minutes of Old Firm football to notch up his first goal against Celtic. Cup specialist Ramsey is 15/2 to open the scoring again on Sunday.

Before Cameron Carter-Vickers became the hero in the last Old Firm derby, it was down to Tom Rogic to get the league leaders back into the game. With six goals and 10 assists this season, the Australian attacker is often greasing the wheels when Celtic play well.

Celtic’s win earlier this month was Rangers only defeat at Ibrox in a stretch of 20 games. Celtic are also in incredible form, with their run still ongoing since September. With so little to split the two teams, the likelihood of extra-time and penalties will be on both sides’ minds.

The teams are 23/10 to remain equal after 90 minutes with the match 5/1 to go to penalties. Celtic are the 4/6 favourites to progress, with Rangers priced at 11/10.
