Champions League Last 16 Preview: Relentless Reds on track for quarter-final

Another week of Champions League action is upon us as we prepare for the Last 16 second legs.

Liverpool v Inter Milan

Jurgen Klopp’s side will be playing their fourth game in nine days as they prepare for their second leg tie against Inter Milan at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Liverpool head into the second leg with a 2-0 lead after an impressive performance in Milan two weeks ago. Their victory in the first leg means that they have won each of their three games against Inter Milan in the Champions League without conceding a single goal. Both teams to score is priced at 8/11.

Mohamed Salah has scored eight goals in seven Champions League appearances for Liverpool this season meaning this is his second-best scoring campaign after 2017/18 where he netted ten. The Egyptian King is priced at 10/11 to find the back of the net yet again on Tuesday.

During his time in England, Edin Dzeko enjoyed his games at Anfield with the Bosnian striker scoring in three of his four starts at the famous ground. Dzeko is priced at 11/5 to continue his impressive run on Tuesday night.

Only one side in Champions League history has lost the first leg of a knockout tie by two or more goals at home and gone on to progress. That team was Man United in 2018/19 where they defeated PSG. Milan are priced at 12/1 to progress through to the quarter-finals.

Real Madrid v PSG

Kylian Mbappe’s last minute strike two weeks ago saw PSG come away with a 1-0 lead against Real Madrid in their Champions League first leg but how will they cope on Wednesday?

Real Madrid have been eliminated from nine of their last 10 knockout ties in the UEFA Champions League when losing the first leg. The last time they overturned a first leg deficit was against Wolfsburg in the 2015-16 season. The Spanish giants are priced at 2/1 to qualify for the quarter finals.

Karim Benzema has scored 12 goals in his last 11 UEFA Champions League home games for Real Madrid and the Frenchman is 19/20 to get on the scoresheet yet again.

Only Barcelona (4) and Real Madrid (6) have been eliminated more times than PSG (3) after leading the first leg of a Champions League knockout tie. The French outfit are 4/11 favourites to see out the tie and reach the last eight this season.
