The UEFA Champions League is back for the 71st edition of the Europe’s most prestigious club football competition, with Paris Saint-Germain looking to defend their crown.

@Footy_Tipster gives his best predictions ahead of this UEFA Champions League campaign..

The last UEFA Champions League campaign was the first in it’s new format and despite much debate about how it would fare against the traditional format, we witnessed plenty of drama with some of the biggest games in club football throughout the competition.

Thirty-six teams make up the Champions League group phase, each team will play eight games in the group stage over the next five months, with the top eight sides progressing through into the round of 16 but there can only be one League Stage Winner, who will come out on top?

Now, let’s take a closer look at some UEFA Champions League Group Stage Winner Odds and predictions:

*All odds subject to change – prices correct at the time of writing*

Barcelona – 9/2

  • European giants Barcelona are looking to pick up their sixth UEFA Champions League trophy this season and enter the tournament as one of the favourites given their debut season under Hansi Flick. They finished second in the group phase with nineteen points just behind Liverpool before progressing all the way to the semi-final before that dramatic defeat to Inter Milan at the San Siro. – Barcelona are my pick to finish at the top of the UEFA Champions League Group Stage.

Liverpool – 6/1

  •  Having finished top of the UCL group stage last season after losing just one of their eight games, Liverpool will be hoping that history can repeats itself but they have some tricky fixtures to get through in order to finish at the top of the group, including Galatasaray (A), Real Madrid (H) and Inter Milan (A).

Arsenal – 6/1

  • Arsenal have got quite a few “winnable” fixtures in their UEFA Champions League group stage so priced at 6/1 seems like value, although they’ve got to play Atleti and Bayern Munich, fixtures against Slavia Prague, Club Brugge, Olimpiacos and Kairat Almaty should see them win at least four of their eight.

Paris Saint-Germain – 8/1

  • Like Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain also have some fixtures that should be fairly comfortable for the defending champions my only concern would be how they started the last UEFA Champions League campaign, they might not hit those heights we’re used to seeing until the latter stages.

Manchester City – 9/1

  • Manchester City should make it through via the automatic places given their fixtures, a trip to Real Madrid looks the toughest test but i feel like inconsistency could stop Pep Guardiola’s side from finishing top of the pile here, although there’s definitely some value in this 9/1.

Real Madrid – 10/1

  • Real Madrid are priced at 10/1 to finish at the top of the UEFA Champions League group stages and that’s because they’ve got to face Liverpool, Manchester City and Juventus to name a few, although Xabi Alonso’s side should progress into the next round, a top spot finish could be a big ask for Los Blancos.

Best Of The Rest:

  • Bayern Munich – 9/1
  • Chelsea – 12/1
  • Inter Milan – 20/1
  • Napoli – 20/1
  • Tottenham – 20/1
  • Atletico Madrid – 33/1
  • Juventus – 33/1
  • Newcastle – 40/1

    1. For retail customers: £2,000
    2. For online customers: £10,000.
