Last week saw four sides book their places in the Champions League quarter finals but who will be joining them after this round of fixtures? We take a look at the standout games here…

Can Atalanta cause an upset at the Bernabeu?

After a 1-0 win away at Atalanta in the first leg, Real Madrid will be hoping that they can progress to yet another Champions League quarter final on Tuesday evening.

Real Madrid head into this fixture as 5/4 favourites to win in 90 minutes and with a brilliant record in the Champions League knockout stages, you would expect Los Blancos to advance yet again. Real Madrid have progressed from eight of their last nine UEFA Champions League knockout ties when they’ve won the first leg away from home however there only loss in that time came against Ajax in the 2018-19 Champions League campaign.

This will be just the second time Atalanta have faced Spanish opponents away from home in European competition with their last game being a 4-3 away win at Valencia at this stage of the competition last season. Of all teams left in the competition, Atalanta are currently on the longest unbeaten away streak having won all of their last five games away from home. The Italian side are currently priced as 2/1 underdogs to win in 90 minutes in Madrid.

Man City to breeze past Borussia?

In the first leg, Manchester City cruised to a 2-0 victory against Borussia Monchengladbach, and you would expect Pep Guardiola’s side to put this game to bed rather quickly on Tuesday evening.

Manchester City are unbeaten in their five games against Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League, so it comes to no surprise to see that they are 2/9 favourites to win this fixture in 90 minutes. Another impressive stat going into this fixture is that Manchester City have won 10 of their last 11 Champions League outings at the Etihad Stadium averaging over 3.5 goals scored.

Borussia Mönchengladbach’s previous trip to face Manchester City ended in a 4-0 loss which remains their joint-heaviest defeat away from home in the UEFA Champions League. Monchengladbach have never won an away game against an English side in a European competition, so it comes to no surprise that the German side are priced as strong 12/1 underdogs to defeat the Citizens in 90 minutes.

Chelsea to continue their UCL record?

The standout fixture of the week comes from Stamford Bridge as Chelsea host Atletico Madrid on Wednesday evening with a slight 1-0 lead heading into the second leg.

Chelsea have hosted Atletico Madrid three times in previous European campaigns with previous results placing this fixture firmly in the balance. Chelsea have won one, lost one and drawn one against Madrid at Stamford Bridge and will head into this fixture as slight 6/5 favourites. In their history in European competition, Chelsea have never been eliminated in a two-legged knockout tie after winning the first leg away from home progressing from all 13 ties.

Atlético Madrid have lost three Champions League matches against Chelsea which is their joint-most against an opponent along with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. You can get the Spanish side to win at 5/2 on Wednesday evening. Atletico’s only previous away game at Chelsea in the knockout stages of the competition came back in April 2014 where they won 3-1 in the Champions League semi-finals.
