Champions League Prize Money Breakdown

@Footy_Tipster gives his best predictions ahead of this round of fixtures in the UEFA Champions League..

The UEFA Champions League returns this week, with the second leg of these play-off fixtures to determine the last sixteen in the competition.

The first game of the evening comes from the iconic San Siro, as Milan take on Feyenoord looking to overturn their 1-0 deficit.

Later in the evening, another Italian side looking to overturn a slight deficit (2-1) is Atalanta, who face Club Brugge at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo. Celtic make the trip to Germany to face Bayern Munich with the Hoops still alive in the tie and looking to cause an upset. Whilst two-time winners Benfica return to the Estadio da Luz to defend their 1-0 advantage against Monaco.

Now, let’s take a closer look at some betting angles for Tuesday night’s UEFA Champions League fixtures:

AC Milan v Feyenoord – Tuesday, 5.45pm

  • Seven-time winners of the UCL find themselves 1-0 down in this play-off fixture following an under-par performance in Rotterdam last week.
  • Milan are unbeaten in their last twelve games on home soil across all competitions, only Liverpool & Napoli have won here in their last nineteen outings.
  • Santiago Giminez will be hoping to have his say, the Mexican joined Milan from Feyenoord just two-weeks ago and has since scored in back-to-back Serie A games.
    ——————————–
  • Feyenoord take an advantage to Italy following the first leg but will be concerned about their recent results on the road.
  • The Dutch side are winless in their last five road trips  including Saturday’s goalless draw against NAC Breda.
  • Pascal Bosschaart is in interim charge of Feyenoord right now, he made his debut as manager in the first leg and repeat of that scoreline here could secure him the job.

Prediction: AC Milan 2-0 Feyenoord, Santiago Giminez to score anytime.

Atalanta v Club Brugge – Tuesday, 8pm.

  • Atalanta left Belgium furious last week after a controversial penalty was given against them, making things a little more difficult here in Bergamo.
  • La Dea come into this one following a goalless draw against Cagliari on Saturday in a game they dominated, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side really need an upturn in form.
  • Atalanta have won just one of their last six home games, although that did come via a 5-0 victory in this competition.
    ——————————–
  • Club Brugge have lost just one of their last six UEFA Champions League fixtures.
  • The Belgian side tend to struggle on the road in Italy though, having not won in any of their last seven visits, including a defeat to Milan back in October.
  • I’m expecting goals in this one, with Brugge finding the net in each of their four away games so far in this competition.

Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Atalanta to win, Atalanta 2-1 Club Brugge (Atalanta to win on penalties).

Bayern Munich v Celtic – Tuesday, 8pm.

  • Bayern Munich will be content with their 2-1 victory in Glasgow last week, they’ll be confident of making it through to the last sixteen with the home crowd behind them on Tuesday evening.
  • An unusual performance from Bayern Munich secured them a vital point in the Bundesliga title race on Saturday, Vincent Kompany’s side produced just two shots in the whole game at Bayer Leverkusen.
  • Bayern Munich have lost just one of their last twenty-one games in all competitions on home soil, a tough place to come this.
    ——————————–
  • Celtic are still in this tie but will need a minor miracle if they are to leave Munich with a place in the last sixteen.
  • The Hoops haven’t won in any of their last twelve away games in the UEFA Champions League, whilst they’ve already been beaten 7-1 in Germany this campaign (Dortmund), a real worry for Brendan Rodgers side.
  • Since 2017, Bayern Munich have won all of their three meetings with Celtic, they should do the same in this one.

Prediction: Bayern Munich 4-1 Celtic, Bayern Munich to score 4 or more goals.

Benfica v Monaco – Tuesday, 8pm.

  • Benfica have given themself a real chance of securing their place in the last sixteen of the UEFA Champions League with a 1-0 victory against the 10 men of Monaco last week.
  • It’s now five wins in a row for Benfica following their 1-0 victory at Santa Clara on Saturday, with two UCL victories included in that run.
  • Benfica are unbeaten in their last four UCL meetings with Monaco, whilst they’ve already beaten the Monegasques twice in this campaign, both by a one goal margin.
    ——————————–
  • Monaco bounced back from their disappointing display in the first-leg with a 7-1 victory in Ligue 1 on Saturday at home to Nantes.
  • However, Adi Hutter’s side have struggled on the road in recent weeks, they’ve won just one of their last ten away games which came against Regional 1 club L’Union Saint-Jean.
  • It’s worth noting that Monaco have conceded at least twice in five of their last six UEFA Champions League games on the road.

Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Benfica to win, Benfica 2-1 Monaco.
