Champions League Prize Money Breakdown

@Footy_Tipster gives his best predictions ahead of this round of fixtures in the UEFA Champions League..

The UEFA Champions League returns this week, with the second leg of these play-off fixtures to determine the last sixteen in the competition.

We kick off at 5.45pm on Wednesday evening and our first game comes from Signal Iduna Park as Borussia Dortmund look to defend their 3-0 lead against Sporting CP.

Later in the evening, Paris Saint-Germain will be looking to do the same and defend their 3-0 advantage at home against fellow Ligue 1 side Brest. Elsewhere, PSV have it all to do after losing the first leg 2-1 away at Juventus, whilst we should be in for another cracker between Real Madrid and Manchester City with the game still in the balance.

Now, let’s take a closer look at some betting angles for Wednesday night’s UEFA Champions League fixtures:

Borussia Dortmund v Sporting CP – Wednesday, 5.45pm

  • Borussia Dortmund have given themselves a huge chance of reaching the UEFA Champions League last sixteen following their 3-0 victory in Lisbon last week.
  • The Prussians may have already had an eye on this second leg game after falling to a 2-0 defeat to struggling Bochum on Saturday afternoon.
  • Dortmund have won just one of their last seven games across all competitions, although they did win three of their four UCL games here this campaign.
    ——————————–
  • Sporting have it all to do here are the signs aren’t great, given they’ve lost twelve of their last fourteen against German opposition.
  • It’s not been a great week for Rui Borges’ side, they slipped up with a consecutive stalemate in the Portuguese top-flight with their advantage at the top now down to just two points.
  • Sporting have won just one of their five meetings with Dortmund, if they don’t make a quick start here it could almost become a non-event.

Prediction: Borussia Dortmund to win, Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Sporting.

Paris Saint-Germain v Brest – Wednesday, 8pm.

  • PSG continued their dominance against fellow French side Brest last week, a 3-0 victory means they’ve now won eighteen of the last nineteen meetings between the two sides.
  • This will be the fourth time these two sides have met already this season, with the Parisians scoring at least three goals in all three meetings so far.
  • This should be straight forward for PSG given they’ve now lost to Brest in their last thirty-one meetings, expect Luis Enrique’s side to extend that record on Wednesday evening.
    ——————————–
  • It’s been a good campaign for Brest on their UEFA Champions League campaign but they’ll have to defy the odds if they are to secure a place in the last sixteen.
  • The Pirates are just four points off the top six in Ligue 1, defeat here and Brest will turn their focus on trying to secure some sort of European football for their faithful next season.
  • Ousmane Dembele is a man in form right now, he’s scored fifteen goals in his last nine games.

Prediction: Ousmane Dembele to score two or more goals, PSG 3-1 Brest.

PSV Eindhoven v Juventus – Wednesday, 8pm.

  • A 2-1 defeat in Turin for PSV last week make’s it just one win in their last five outings for the Dutch side.
  • Despite that defeat, all hope isn’t lost just yet as the Rood-witten boast a twelve game unbeaten run in Europe.
  • This is the third time these two sides have met this season, PSV are yet to take anything from Juventus albeit this is the time game in Eindhoven.
    ——————————–
  • Juventus may have just hit form at the right time, they’ve won all four of their games since their 2-0 defeat in the UEFA Champions League against Benfica.
  • The Old Lady travel to the Netherlands after an impressive 1-0 victory in the Derby d’Italia against Inter on Sunday night.
  • We could see a cagey affair in this one, we know Juventus are good at defending leads so this will be an interesting watch.

Prediction: PSV 1-1 Juventus, Both Teams To Score & Draw.

Real Madrid v Manchester City – Wednesday, 8pm.

  • Real Madrid looked to be up against it when Erling Haaland slotted home from the spot to give City a 2-1 lead with just ten minutes to play. However, Madrid were rewarded for not giving up scoring twice late on to give themselves a 3-2 advantage.
  • Los Blancos had to face Osasuna with ten men for the majority of the game on Saturday following Jude Bellingham’s straight red card for comments made towards the referee, the game finished 1-1.
  • Real Madrid have won three of their six home games against Manchester City, with the last two ending in stalemates.
    ——————————–
  • Following the late collapse once again from Manchester City in the first leg, Pep Guardiola’s side responded well with an impressive 4-0 victory against Newcastle on Saturday afternoon.
  • City’s away form hasn’t been great this season, they’ve won just three of their last fourteen road trips whilst they’ve lost three of their four UCL away games this campaign.
  • I’m expecting another cracker between these two on Wednesday night, i’m going to give Real Madrid the nod in an entertaining encounter.

Prediction: Erling Haaland to score & Real Madrid to win, Both Teams To Score In Both Halves.
