Champions League Prize Money: How Much Do Winners Receive?

The Champions League is one of football’s most lucrative club competitions and the winner of Saturday’s clash between Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain will receive an additional £21.5 million for lifting the trophy.
The stage is set and the Allianz Arena is ready. The 2024/25 Champions League final takes place on Saturday night and the game is now widely regarded as one of the most financially rewarding fixtures in the sport.
With Champions League prize money increasing by well over 30% this season, it would be fair to say that the competition revamp has been a huge success for the bank balance of clubs across Europe.
Here, we attempt to breakdown the total prize money for the 2024/25 Champions League, with the total prize pot for the competition now standing at a staggering £2.06 billion – considerably higher than the £1.74 billion on offer in the previous format.
So, how does it work?
First and foremost, every club that qualified for the 2024/25 Champions League will receive an automatic £15.7 million. If any given team lost every league phase fixture, they would still walk away with that amount.
In the initial league phase, each victory earns a club £1.8 million while a draw is worth £590,000. These finances have next to no impact on football betting markets but it at least gives some indication as to just how important each fixture is.
Those teams who finished in the top eight in the league phase – securing automatic qualification to the round of 16 stage – are awarded an additional £1.7 million. And this is where the finances really begin to soar…
Champions League 2024/25 Prize Money Breakdown For Knockout Stages

- Round-of-16: £9.4m
So the winner of Saturday’s clash between Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain, two powerhouses of European football, will receive £21.5 million for that success while the runners up will receive £15.9 million.
To put the numbers into perspective, Arsenal earned an astonishing £97 million from their 2024/25 Champions League campaign – which should be enough to give the Gunners a huge boost financially in the summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, Chelsea earned just £5.9 million for winning Wednesday’s Europa Conference League final – a relatively small sum of money considering they just won a European trophy. If nothing else, it just goes to show how much of a draw the Champions League is.
