The UEFA Champions League quarter-final stage will conclude this week, with just four teams progressing into in the semi-final.

@Footy_Tipster gives his best predictions ahead of this round of fixtures in the UEFA Champions League..

Even for Real Madrid’s UCL standards, they have a mountain to climb on Wednesday evening if they are to keep their hopes of defending their trophy alive, Los Blancos trail Arsenal by three goals after their first meeting in North London last week.

Now, let’s take a closer look at some betting angles for Wednesday night’s UEFA Champions League fixture:

Real Madrid v Arsenal – Wednesday, 8pm

  • The 3-0 defeat last week was only the fifth time in history that Real Madrid have lost a European Cup/Champions League knockout tie (first-leg) by a three goal margin, only once have they been able to turn the tie around  in the second leg, beating Derby County 5-1 in 1976.
  • We all know it’s a big ask, but as Lucas Vazquez said after the game on Tuesday, “If any teams in the world can turn this around, it’s Real Madrid”, especially in the UCL which is effectively their competition, having won it more than any other side (15).
  • Carlo Ancelotti is under a bit of pressure right now but his side continued their chase of Barcelona at the top of La Liga in tricky circumstances on Sunday afternoon, Los Blancos beat Alaves 1-0  but played the majority of the game with ten players after Kylian Mbappe’s red card in the first half after an horrific tackle, the Frenchman will be available for this one though.
    ——————————–
  • It was well and truly a night to remember for both Arsenal and Declan Rice at the Emirates, after two unbelievable free-kicks (which the on-looking Roberto Carlos would have been proud of) put the Gunners well on their way to securing their first UCL semi-final since 2009, although they know they’ve still got work to do.
  • Mikel Arteta’s side will be hoping to keep a clean sheet for as long as possible, they’ll be up against this very talented Real Madrid attack and if they conceded without responding in the first half, the pressure will mount on the Gunners, Real Madrid haven’t failed to score at home in the UCL since 2018.
  • For all of Real Madrid’s attacking force, they remain vulnerable at the back, so Arsenal will be hoping to get chances in this game to rubber stamp their spot in the last four.
