Promotion, Play-Off and relegation issues are all under the spotlight. Accordingly, Championship betting interest is reaching fever pitch.

Here are the upcoming pairings alongside my considered score predictions to assist your football betting…

Middlesbrough v Charlton Athletic

Kick-off: 7.45pm
Rankings: 2nd versus 18th

Middlesbrough preview – Two consecutive wins capping four unbeaten matches. Boro lie five points under pole position and four points ahead of third. I closely watched Sunday’s convincing 4-0 scalping at Queens Park Rangers from the Matrade Loftus Road press box.

Kim Hellberg’s men were entirely dominant and never looked like conceding. It was their eighth victory during 11 Championship attempts suffering a solitary defeat in that run (away to table toppers Coventry City) and earning 26 points.

Charlton Athletic preview – Nine points clear of relegation worries. Saturday’s 1-0 victory against visitors Birmingham City ended four winless assignments. On away travels, just one defeat among five ongoing matches though.

Score prediction: Boro bound on 4-2.

West Bromwich Albion v Southampton

Kick-off: 7.45pm
Rankings: 21st versus 8th

West Bromwich Albion preview – Only a one point buffer on the dreaded dotted relegation line. Albion have failed to win throughout 12 League games played beyond the turn of the year.

Southampton preview – Basking in the glory of Sunday’s 1-0 Emirates FA Cup Fifth Round win at Premier League outfit Fulham. It cemented 10 unbeaten matches spanning all competitions. So the Saints sit four points short of Play-Off deliberations.

Score prediction: Saints march on 2-1.

Coventry City v Preston North End

Kick-off: 8pm
Rankings: 1st versus 13th

Coventry City preview – Enjoying a five point cushion. Five successive Championship wins enriching six games unconquered. The Sky Blues remain our second tier’s foremost scorers racking up 74 goals.

Preston North End preview – One win inside 11 League and Cup engagements leaving Preston eight points shy of the coveted Play-Off region. Their tally of 13 draws is the division’s highest.

Score prediction: Coventry captivating 4-0.
