Sheffield United vs Sheffield Wednesday Tips: Blades Down Owls In Steel City Derby
Sheffield Wednesday travel to Bramall Lane for the Steel City Derby on Sunday and Owls supporters will be fearing the worst with Sheffield United clear favourites to claim three points.
The Blades are as short as 1/7 in the latest football betting markets to win Sunday’s derby and a win for the hosts could see them climb into the top half of the Championship table if results go their way.
At the other end of the spectrum, Wednesday are in a heap of trouble – both on and off the pitch – and this could be the last Steel City Derby contest for some time, with the visitors set to drop into the third tier at the end of the campaign.
Sheffield United vs Sheffield Wednesday Odds:
Punters can bet on the Steel City Derby at William Hill and here is the current state of the market ahead of Sunday’s clash:
- Sheffield United – 1/7
- Draw – 13/2
- Sheffield Wednesday – 18/1
The Owls are rooted to the foot of the Championship table and they have lost their last nine matches in all competitions, while Wednesday are now winless in 26 consecutive matches.
While a potential takeover is moving in the right direction, it’s been slow progress and supporters are very much preparing for a turbulent few years for the club.
Meanwhile, Chris Wilder has had a decent impact since returning to Sheffield United (once again!) and the Blades have won three of their last five Championship fixtures.
United have come out on top in this fixture on a regular basis over the past decade, with Wednesday’s last victory over the Blades coming back in 2012. Earlier in the season, Sheffield United ran out 3-0 winners at Hillsborough.
To be honest, I can see a repeat of that same scoreline this Sunday. One team is on an upward trajectory, the other is very much a team in decline and it’s hard to envision anything other than a comfortable home success.
Sheffield United vs Sheffield Wednesday prediction: 3-0.
