Tranmere arrive after a difficult 2025-26 League Two campaign in which they survived by two points and finished 21st. Rochdale come in with more momentum, having returned to the Football League after winning promotion through the National League play-offs.

Rochdale have had change of their own after Jimmy McNulty left for Stockport County and Ian Watson arrived from South Shields.
