The extent of the relative youth and inexperience of the England World Cup Squad compared to other teams at the tournament has been laid bare in a neat graphic from Nick Harris, @Sportingintel on twitter.
Gareth Southgate’s men, 3/10 to beat Costa Rica at Wembley in their final friendly before flying out to Russia and 6/5 to win Group G at the World Cup, have both the joint youngest squad by average age and joint least experienced by average caps.
Only Nigeria and France have selected a group of players with as low a mean age as the Three Lions (26), while only the Tunisian team have as few caps between their 23 players.
