Friday evening sees two European heavyweights battle it out for Europa League supremacy as Inter Milan face five-time winners Sevilla in Lisbon.
Antonio Conte’s side swept aside Shaktar Donetsk in the semi-final, while Sevilla took their chances in beating Manchester United 2-1.
It’s set to be a fascinating match up and we’ve previewed all of the action.
Inter scoring goals
Inter are one of the in-form sides in Europe at the minute, losing just once in their last 17 matches in all competitions and scoring 40 goals in the process. Hounded out of Manchester United, Romelu Lukaku has become their key man, with 23 goals in Serie A and eight in the Europa League.
Lukaku dovetails well with Argentinian forward Lautaro Martinez, who has been touted for a potential move to Barcelona following his impressive season at the San Siro. He scored two in the demolition of Shaktar in the semi-final and is 13/8 to score anytime on Friday night.
It will be Inter’s first appearance in a major European Final since Jose Mourinho’s treble winning side beat Bayern Munich to win the Champions League in 2010. The Italian side are 11/10 to win the game.
Sevilla’s love for the competition
Sevilla have taken this competition as seriously as anyone in the last decade and are arguably the major factor in the Europa League’s growing credibility as an elite competition. They’ve won the trophy an impressive five times, all of which have come in the last 15 years, including three successive crowns between 2014-2016.
Despite being second best on the night against Manchester United, as great European sides do, they took their chances when they needed to, with former Premier League stars Suso and Luuk de Jong both on the scoresheet. Munir El Haddadi is their top scorer in the competition with six goals, and is 17/5 to score anytime on Friday.
Sevilla’s heritage in the competition may be enough to see them through and they’re currently 6/5 to lift the trophy again this year.
