European football preview: Barcelona misery to continue against Atletico?

| BY News Team

There is plenty of European flavour this week with the Champions League and Europa League followed by some intriguing league fixtures across the continent this weekend.

We preview two of the standout fixtures from across Europe below.

Atletico Madrid v Barcelona

It looked like Barcelona may have begun to find their feet again when registering a 3-0 victory over Levante last weekend, however, their next outing to Benfica in the Champions League on Wednesday put them firmly back in the same position when suffering a 3-0 loss against the Portuguese side.

Up next is a trip to fourth placed Atletico Madrid in La Liga, which will be no easy task. Ronald Koeman will be desperate to see his side dig deeper here and will be hopeful Memphis Depay can increase his goal tally from his current haul of three. He is 11/5 to do so on Saturday.

Given their recent form, Barcelona are the underdogs at 29/10 to take the victory, while hosts Atletico are the Evens favourites.

Luis Suarez has so far this season been his ever-prominent self and has notched up four goals, and the Uruguayan will fancy his chances of increasing that tally against a struggling Barcelona. As all world class forwards possess, he has a killer instinct and like a predator in the wild, he knows when his prey are vulnerable. Suarez can be backed at 21/20 to score anytime against his former club.

Fiorentina v Napoli

Fiorentina arrive at this fixture having lost just once in their last five fixtures, although Napoli take the edge on recent form having gone without defeat in their last five matches.

That consistency has put Napoli at the top of the Serie A table and with only a two-point cushion for comfort over AC Milan they will travel to Florentina on Sunday with three points firmly in their sights.

The consistency Napoli have showed so far this season makes them the clear favourites to take the win at the Stadio Artemio Franchi and they are a 10/11 shot. The hosts, on the other hand, can be backed at 16/5 to take down the league leaders with the draw priced at 5/2.

Napoli have registered an impressive 15 goals in their last six games so the Fiorentina defence will certainly have their work cut out in keeping top-scorer Victor Osimhen at bay, with the striker having notched up an impressive tally of six goals from six games this season. He can be backed at 13/5 to hit the back of the net at any time.

Fiorentina’s main talisman, Dusan Vlahovic, who has also been linked with a move to the Premier League, has been in fruitful form so far this campaign, registering four goals from his six outings, so any hopes of a surprise victory may be resting firmly on his shoulders. The Serbian is down at 9/5 to continue that form and score at any time.
