European Football Preview

| BY News Team

This week has seen football be played in all corners of Europe, but it does not end there as we head into a weekend of incredible action. We preview the standout fixtures from around Europe here…

Roma v AC Milan

Sunday evening sees two of Serie A’s top teams meet as AC Milan travel to Rome to face Jose Mourinho’s I Giallorossi.

Roma came back on Wednesday evening to defeat Cagliari 2-1 away from home which means that they now sit in fourth place heading into a tough fixture against top of the table AC Milan. Roma are currently in mixed form in Serie A having lost to Juventus and drawing to Napoli in recent weeks but they are still 13/10 favourites to defeat the potential champions this weekend. The Stadio Olimpico curse seems to have created problems for Roma managers in recent years, but Jose Mourinho has not been hit with this yet as his Roma side have recorded six victories and a draw in the 10 matches played so far this season.

AC Milan are desperate to finally re-claim their Serie A crown this season and they look the real deal. Milan currently sit top of the table having won nine of their ten Serie A games and drawing once so far. Only Milan and Napoli are the two sides to not taste defeat so far this season. Although Milan sit top, they head into this fixture as 2/1 underdogs but they will firmly believe they can take away three points from Jose Mourinho’s side.

Atletico Madrid v Real Betis

Sunday sees Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid side host high-flying Real Betis at the Wanda Metropolitano in an affair which has football fans licking their lips.

Atletico Madrid have had a very interesting start to their La Liga season so far and their last three games sum that up. Atletico lost to Alaves before defeating Barcelona and most recently, drawing to Real Sociedad in a four-goal thriller. Although Atletico have had their ups and downs, Diego Simeone’s side still head into this game as 11/20 favourites. The man to watch at this moment in time is Luis Suarez. El Pistolero has scored five of the last six goals Atletico have scored in La Liga and you would not put it past him to find the back of the net once again this weekend.

Every season, La Liga has one side that comes from the back of the pack to lead the way and this season, it is Real Betis. Betis currently sit joint top of La Liga having won their last three games. Just this week, Betis defeated Valencia 4-1 at home to put their mark down and tell the rest of the league that they are not going away. With Betis being in such good form, a 11/2 price for them to leave Madrid with all three points could be an excellent price.
