European Football Blog: Napoli can remain unbeaten

| BY News Team

The international break is over, but the action returns straight away with all five major European leagues back in action this weekend.

We take a look at the standout fixtures from around the continent here.

Inter Milan vs Napoli

Two of Italy’s biggest sides go head-to-head on Sunday evening with Inter Milan hoping to put an end to Napoli’s unbeaten run at the top of Serie A.

Inter are unbeaten in their last four Serie A matches against Napoli winning three and drawing one with their most recent victory being a 4-1 drubbing in 2019. Inter head into this fixture with a price of 5/4 to gain all three points. Inter have struggled against Serie A’s top sides this season drawing with Juventus, Atalanta, and AC Milan whilst they have also lost to Lazio so they will be looking to amend these results with a win on the weekend. In their last five Serie A games, Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martínez have only scored one goal, but they are both priced at 29/20 to find the back of the net this time.

Napoli have been in fine form in Serie A this season with the Gli Azzurri still not losing a game and sitting at the top of the table with AC Milan. Napoli have not lost a Serie A fixture in their last 21 games, and they are priced at 9/4 to come away from this fixture with three more points. Napoli’s Fabián Ruiz has scored more goals against Inter Milan for Napoli in all competitions than he has vs any other side and he is priced at a strong 4/1 to do so yet again on Sunday.

Lyon vs Marseille

Lyon host Marseille in Ligue 1’s weekend finale on Sunday evening with Lyon hoping to get back to winning ways and go just one point behind Marseille in fourth place.

Lyon have not won any of their last three matches against Marseille in Ligue 1 drawing twice and losing the other. They have not gone winless against Marseille for four consecutive games since 2016. If you believe the men in white can grab all three points, they are priced as 10/11 favourites. Karl Ekambi has been involved in 14 goals directly so far this season and he is one of the leading favourites at 23/20 to find the back of the net for the 11th time this season.

Marseille are unbeaten in their last five Ligue 1 fixtures winning twice and drawing three times but their record against Lyon is not one to be envious of. Marseille have won only 26.7% of their games against Lyon in Ligue 1 which is their lowest win percentage against a side they have faced five or more times in the league. The visitors go into this game as 14/5 underdogs. Dimitri Payet has been involved in 13 goals against Lyon in Ligue 1 and he is priced at 19/10 to get involved once again this weekend with a goal.
