Euro 2024 Qualifiers Home Nations preview: Clean sweep on the cards for UK sides in round four

| BY News Team

With qualification for the 2024 European Championships now well underway, all of the home nations are still in with a chance of making it to next year’s tournament.

With winnable games on the horizon this round’s fixtures could prove vital.

We preview the home nations’ fixtures below.

England v North Macedonia – Monday 19th June, 19:45

England’s qualifying campaign has started perfectly, winning all of their first three games, with the trend expected to continue here as Gareth Southgate’s side are 1/12 favourites against a much weaker North Macedonia side.

Following a 4-0 win over Malta in the last match, England have notched up eight goals in just three games so far, with Harry Kane’s three putting him at the top of the goalscoring charts for the Three Lions. In the form of his life, and avoiding injury in the last match, Kane looks set to start again and England’s record goalscorer is 4/9 to extend his tally on Monday evening.

North Macedonia still have hopes of qualifying, with second, third and fourth in the group all tied on three points. They have been known to topple giants in the past when they beat Italy in the most recent World Cup qualifiers, but the 33/1 underdogs look unlikely to pull off another upset here.

If Southgate’s men are on form, this game could turn into a matter of name the winning margin as England have been known to put a hatful of goals past weaker opponents in qualifying before. At 19/10, England to win with a minus 3-goal match handicap looks to be the value punt, provided England put in a similar performance to their last match.

Turkey v Wales – Monday 19th June, 19:45

Wales suffered a shock loss in their last match, falling by a scoreline of 4-2 to an Armenia side currently ranked 97th in the world. Rob Page’s men will be hoping to put that performance behind them as they look towards Monday night’s game against Turkey.

Having fallen to a much lesser side in their last outing, Rob Page’s men head into this game as the 7/2 underdogs, but sitting just two points behind the Group D leader will give them extra incentive to pick up all three points here.

With Kieffer Moore suspended, Brennan Johnson is likely to lead the line and the Nottingham Forest talisman is 4/1 to find the back of the net.

Turkey currently sit on top of Group D, with six points from three games so far. With home advantage on their side, they head into this games as 5/6 favourites, and another three points would put them in pole position to qualify.

Hakan Calhanoglu has been the star of Turkish football for almost a decade, and coming off the back of an incredible season with Inter Milan, including a Champions League final appearance, the set-piece specialist provides reasonable value at 16/5 to score anytime.

Northern Ireland v Kazakhstan – Monday 19th June, 19:45

Northern Ireland’s Euro 2024 qualifying campaign has not gotten off to the start they would have wanted. Michael O’Neill’s side currently sit above only San Marino in Group H, but not all is lost as a tight group means they are still only three points behind Denmark in top spot.

Ranking a whopping 50 places higher than their opponents, Northern Ireland are the 13/20 favourites for this fixture. As the only man to have found the back of the net in their qualifying campaign so far, Dion Charles is 8/5 to increase his tally to three, and it is likely that he will be the man to guide Northern Ireland to all three points.

Kazakhstan are the 5/1 underdogs for this game, but they will believe that they have a much better chance than the odds suggest having won two out of their three games so far, including a 3-2 win over 19th ranked Denmark.

They will likely look to veteran midfielder Askhat Tagybergen once again, and he is potentially a very good price at 8/1 to score anytime, having notched two goals in three matches so far.

Scotland v Georgia – Tuesday 20th June, 19:45

Scotland couldn’t have asked for much more from their qualifying campaign so far, with three wins out of three, including an incredible 2-0 win over Spain. The Scots are looking to make it four from four, and as 1/2 favourites, in front of their home crowd, they will certainly be fancied to do so.

Scott McTominay has been the key man for his side, scoring four of their seven goals in qualifying, including a match winning double against Spain. The Manchester United midfielder is 15/4 to find the back of the net against Georgia, and a continuation of his goalscoring form would certainly go a long way to taking Scotland back to the European Championships.

Georgia are also enjoying an unexpectedly fruitful campaign as they sit second in the group on four points. After picking up a narrow win against Cyprus they are not fancied to do the same here at 13/2 to pick up three points.

Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia burst on to the scene this season, scoring 12 goals in Serie A, and the tricky winger is 9/2 to pick up his first goal of the qualifying campaign on Tuesday evening.
