Manchester City vs Chelsea – Saturday 20th April, 17:15

Manchester City will face Chelsea at Wembley in the first of this year’s FA Cup semi-finals, and based on their form against the London club, they should be back at Wembley for the Final. Chelsea have failed to beat Man City in the last eight meetings between the two sides. However, the last two have ended in draws, including the superb 4-4 at Stamford Bridge where Cole Palmer coolly despatched his late penalty to spoil his former supporter’s trip to London.

City have been in superb form across all competitions and their squad seems to be handling the relentless fixture list which becomes apparent when remaining in a number of competitions for such a long time. Phil Foden has been a massive part of Manchester City maintaining such high-quality performances this season, despite the loss of fellow attackers Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne for large chunks of this year due to injury. Foden is on track to have one of his most fruitful seasons in front of goal this year with 20 goals in all competitions and he is sure to have a big part to play at Wembley.

Cole Palmer is by far the most important player for Chelsea this season, with 16 goals in all competitions in a Chelsea shirt, and he will be looking to be the talisman to take the Blues all the way. Since joining Chelsea from Man City, Cole Palmer has not lost to his former club and he will be hoping to continue that streak at Wembley.

Manchester City are 4/6 to win the FA Cup this year.

Chelsea are 11/2 to win the FA Cup this year.

Coventry City vs Manchester United – Sunday 21st April, 15:30

Coventry City have done exceptionally well this year to earn themselves a date at Wembley with the Red Devils. Coventry fully deserve to be there after their quarter final victory against local rivals Wolves. Coventry showed determination with two stoppage-time goals which completed their comeback and earnt them a spot at Wembley.

They currently sit 7th in the Championship, so the FA Cup is not the only focus this season. This could be seen as a negative as it is not as if they have the luxury of resting players in league matches, as every game is important for them in their fight for a play-off spot.

Manchester United are going to be a different test for Coventry, especially with the game being played at Wembley. There is a strong possibility that the occasion could get to the Coventry players, and the experience of Manchester United players could prove to be the difference in this unexpected semi-final fixture.

Another point worth noting is that this is the last opportunity of the season for Manchester United to win silverware. Erik ten Hag has come under some scrutiny this year due to Manchester United’s lack of success. The players and fans will see a semi-final with Coventry as a strong opportunity to feature in a domestic final this year. However, this does provide an opportunity for complacency to slip in, with Coventry proving to be a tough nut to crack even for Premier League sides… just ask Wolves!

One player who could cause Manchester United problems in the semi-final is Haji Wright, who scored the late winner in Coventry’s quarter final against Wolves. He has scored 14 goals so far this season and seems to be very comfortable in front of goal. United’s defence has been somewhat substandard this season, and has been ever-changing, which could give Haji Wright the chance to take Coventry to an unexpected final against one of Manchester City or Chelsea.

Coventry City are 25/1 to win the FA Cup this year.

Manchester United are 9/4 to win the FA Cup this year.
