Final One Standing: Brentford and Fulham wins trigger quarter-of-a-million-pound payout
William Hill are paying out a total of £270,000 after three players (and one small group) landed free-to-play Final One Standing jackpots over the Christmas weekend, thanks in large part to key wins for Brentford and Fulham.
The £200,000 and £50,000 headline prizes – plus a shared £20,000 pot – were all won in the space of 48 hours.
Eight players went into the latest round of fixtures still alive in the £200,000 Final One Standing game. Seven of them sided with Sunderland at home to Leeds, only for the game to finish all square and knock them out of the competition. The remaining entrant took a different view and selected Brentford to beat Bournemouth, a decision that proved decisive when the Bees delivered the win and secured the full £200,000 jackpot.
The £50,000 game, which began in Gameweek Two, also came down to a single bold call. Twenty players were still standing going into the weekend; 18 backed Sunderland again, one opted for Crystal Palace at home, and just one player chose Fulham to beat West Ham. The Cottagers’ victory saw that sole Fulham backer land the entire £50,000 prize, while the others dropped out.
There was further success in one of William Hill’s £20,000 free-to-play contests, where five players survived the latest round to split the jackpot. That win took the total given away across the three games to £270,000, all from entries that did not cost players a penny to enter.
William Hill’s Final One Standing format challenges customers to pick the winner of one Premier League game each week. If their selection wins, they stay in; a draw or defeat usually means elimination, and the process continues until only one player – or a small group – remains to claim the jackpot. The games have proved popular with football fans looking for a season-long interest alongside their regular weekend bets.
William Hill spokesperson, Lee Phelps, said: “Our free-to-play Final One Standing games have attracted over half-a-million players so far this season and last weekend a handful of those became our first winners. We had winners of £200k, £50k and five players splitting a £20k jackpot in a weekend where we’ve paid out a total of £270k.
“The biggest winner was one of eight remaining in the £200k pot, seven of whom selected Sunderland to beat Leeds at home. Our lucky winner, however, avoided that draw and picked Brentford to beat Bournemouth.
“Fulham were responsible for the end of one of the £50k pots, with the winner picking them to beat West Ham, one choosing Crystal Palace at home to Spurs and the other 18 once again picking Sunderland. One of our £20k pots was also shared between five players in what was an epic weekend for Final One Standing.”
