Robbie Savage’s picks
First up Robbie has gone for Norwich v Blackburn in the Championship and it’s no surprise to see why. As well as Norwich looking like storming to the title, while also being the division’s joint-second highest scorers this season, two out of the Canaries’ last three games have also witnessed three goals. What’s more, the last two meetings between these two sides both finished up with 2-1 wins for Norwich. Will we see a repeat on Saturday?
Staying in the Championship, Robbie has opted for Barnsley v Sheffield Wednesday. Both sides are in need of a few goals this weekend, with the Tykes pushing to secure a spot in the play-offs and the Owls fighting for their lives at the bottom. The previous clash between these two sides saw three goals scored as Barnsley ran out 2-1 winners, while Wednesday’s last six games have also had their fair share of goals, with five of them seeing three goals or more scored.
It’s over to the Scottish Premiership next for Robbie, with Dundee United v Aberdeen being his third pick. Aberdeen are looking to oust Hibernian from third spot in the table and will be keen to get back to winning ways here after two without a win, including a frustrating draw with Hamilton. The Tangerines, meanwhile, come into this one off the back of an impressive draw with Celtic which could be the boost they need for a few more goals.
Moving to League One and Robbie has chosen Rochdale v Peterborough as his fourth selection this week, and this is one that could certainly be set for a few goals. While Rochdale are fighting against relegation at the bottom, the Posh are chasing promotion at the top, and while the Dale have the second worst defence in the division this season, Peterborough have the second best attack. The last two meetings between these two, meanwhile, has seen 11 goals scored.
Sticking with League One, next up for Sav is Sunderland v Lincoln. With both teams sitting third and fourth respectively in the table, this one could be full of goals, especially with both teams boasting the joint-third best attack in the division this season. Two out of the last three clashes between these two have seen four goals scored, while Lincoln’s last two outings also saw them suffer 3-0 and 2-1 defeats.
Last but not least, it’s off to League Two we go for Robbie’s final pick: Bradford City v Oldham. The form is certainly there, with the last five fixtures between the two teams seeing either three or four goals scored, while Bradford’s last two games have also had three or four goals netted in them. Games with Oldham usually bring about a few goals as well, with the Latics having League Two’s worst defensive record while also possessing the third strongest attack in the division.
