EFL Cup: Fulham v AFC Wimbledon – Fulham’s quality expected to shine through despite rotation

William Hill News tipster @Footy_Tipster previews Thursday’s EFL Cup action between Fulham and AFC Wimbledon.

Our Prediction: Fulham Over 2.5 Goals (17/20), Fulham 3-0 AFC Wimbledon (6/1)

Fulham welcome AFC Wimbledon to Craven Cottage on Thursday evening in the EFL Cup, with the Cottagers looking to claim their first competitive win under Alvaro Arbeloa.

Now, let’s take a closer look at some EFL Cup odds and betting angles for Thursday’s fixture:

Fulham v AFC Wimbledon – Thursday, 8pm

View all available markets at William Hill

  • Fulham started life under Alvaro Arbeloa on Monday evening against rivals Chelsea and despite a 3-2 defeat, i thought they played quite well and any talk of them potentially facing the drop this season didn’t look justified.
  • Remarkably, Fulham have never won a major trophy in it’s 146 year history, their fans will be hoping for a real cup run this year having reached the quarter-final stage last season, they’ll have to get past league one AFC Wimbledon first.
  • There’s no doubt that Fulham will look to rotate here their trip to Sunderland on the horizon but even so, the Cottagers should have enough quality in their squad to overcome their opponents, that’s displayed in the betting market, with William Hill make the Premier League outfit the big 1/5 favourites.

  • AFC Wimbledon have only made it into the EFL Cup third round in one of their last four attempts, they had to overcome Newport County on penalties in the previous round to set this tie up.
  • It’s been a tough start for the Dons, yet to pick up a victory inside the distance and have now picked up just one point from a possible six in League One, there’s no doubt this trip to Craven Cottage is a free hit for the Wombles.
  • AFC Wimbledon haven’t faced Chelsea since reforming back in 2002 following the club being moved to Milton Keynes to become Milton Keynes Dons, victory here could be one of their biggest since 2002 and punters can back them at 12/1 with the leading bookmaker.
