UK football fans have chosen Pep Guardiola as the Premier League manager who utilises his subs bench best, according to latest research from William Hill.

In a survey of 1,000 supporters as part of the bookmaker’s new Impact Sub promotion, the Manchester City boss came out on top with 20% of responses when asked which English top-flight coach uses Impact Subs to the greatest effect.

Behind the Catalan tactician came Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta (8%), Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag (6%) and Liverpool boss Arne Slot (6%).

At the other end of the scale, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola received less than 1% of the vote, while Julen Lopetegui and Sean Dyche were both chosen by a little over 1% of respondents.

Lee Phelps, spokesperson for William Hill, said: “Pep Guardiola has a glittering cabinet of trophies across his seven seasons at Manchester City and he has now been voted the Premier League manager who does the best job in bringing players off the bench.

“More than one in five of those surveyed said the visionary coach utilises Impact Subs to the greatest effect, streets ahead of Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta and Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.

“There was little love for Sean Dyche or Julen Lopetegui – receiving just over 1% of the vote – while Andoni Iraola came bottom of the pile, regarded as the coach who uses his bench to the least effect.”
