Hearts become William Hill Premiership favourites for first time this season

League leaders now 6/4 after Rangers (15/8) and Celtic (2/1) slip up

Hearts are now favourites to win the William Hill Premiership, according to the leading bookmaker.

For the first time this season, Derek McInnes’ side have hit the top of the betting and are 6/4 to claim their first league title since 1960, ahead of Rangers at 15/8.

Celtic were even-money favourites before their loss to Hibernian on Sunday, while Rangers’ 2-2 draw at Livingston left their gap to Hearts at the top standing at four points.

Hearts are now the shortest price they’ve been for the title, with the leading bookmaker laying some title bets at 25/1 earlier in the season.

Rangers 15/8

Celtic 2/1

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “The William Hill Premiership title race has seen its fair share of twists and turns this season, and this weekend was no different.

“We went into Matchday 28 with Celtic at the head of our title betting, followed by Rangers, then Hearts. Now, following the Hoops’ surprise loss, a draw for the Gers and a win for the Jambos, that has been flipped completely on its head!

“For the first time this season, we make Hearts favourites to go on and win the league at 6/4, with Rangers 15/8 and Celtic out to 2/1.

“Some shrewd punters jumped on the trend incredibly early, with a few customers sitting on slips with Hearts to win the league at 25/1.

“With the Old Firm on the horizon on Sunday, Hearts are in position to increase their lead over at least one of the Glasgow giants if they can beat Aberdeen on Saturday.”
