Celtic will travel to Murrayfield Stadium to face Hearts in the Scottish League Cup semi-final. Brendan Rodgers Bhoy’s will be hoping to secure a much-needed win against the league leaders with their own domestic form faltering.
Hearts vs Celtic: Odds and predictions
Celtic come into this Scottish Cup semi-final as the betting favourite with their odds figured at 7/10 in the 90 minutes by the William Hill traders. The Jambos meanwhile are unfancied with their odds betting at a 15/4 pick in that same time frame.
Punting on the match to reach extra-time would grant you odds of 14/5. The Celts are 1/5 to qualify for the final while Hearts are 10/3. Our Hearts vs Celtic predictions are backing a close win for the Bhoys.
Rodgers claimed that Celtic has ‘stood still in the summer’ and ‘failed to go into another gear’ after defeating Hibernian 4-2 last week. That result was their third victory in a row and restored Celtic’s place nearer to the top of the Scottish Premiership.
A midweek slog to the Redbull Arena which saw Rodger’s side lose 2-0 to RB Leipzig but Celtic will be quietly confident of bouncing back in a competition they have won for the previous two seasons.
Leading the charge will be forward Leigh Griffiths. The 28-year-old has scored two goals in his two appearances in the Scottish League Cup, with his solitary goal against St. Johnstone proving to be the difference.
Griffiths is priced at odds of 7/2 in our betting tips, and will surely cause the Hearts defenders defensive issues with his passing ability and hold-up play.
Yet leading our Hearts vs Celtic predictions is not only the forecast of Craig Levein’s side to win, but for Steven Naismith to be the man that secures it for them.
The Scotsman has put in solid shifts for his side in the League Cup and will pose a threat on the counter.
Odds of 9/1 put Naismith at the top of the pecking order, and if Celtic’s recent defensive instabilities resurface, the 32-year-old could have a field day.
Hearts vs Celtic head-to-head: (most recent first) Hearts 1-0 Celtic, Hearts 1-3 Celtic, Hearts 1-3 Celtic, Hearts 4-0 Celtic, Hearts 1-4 Celtic.
Hearts vs Celtic match betting: score, best bet, scorer tips
Predicted score: Hearts to win 2-1, trading @ 14/1
The first installment of our Hearts vs Celtic predictions are backing a 2-1 result for the Bhoys with those odds betting at a 7/1 pick.
We’re placing our faith in Celtic and a head coach in Brendan Rodgers who has won every single domestic competition since arriving in the summer of 2016.
Languishing six points behind Hearts (albeit with one less game played) might sway you to side with the Jambos but we’re backing Celtic’s strong run of recent form that has seen them win three in a row to take this Scottish Cup semi-final home.
Scorer tips: Steven Naismith to score anytime at odds of 14/5
The second installment of our Hearts vs Celtic prediciton see us project an anytime goal from Steven Naitsmith, with those betting at a 14/5 tip. The Scotland forward is enjoying a renaissance at the Gorgie club having scored seven times in 10 appearances in the league.
Naismith believe his side have the “fight and the quality in the squad” to reach their first Cup final since 2013 when they were beaten by St Mirren.
Head coach Craig Levein also has faith in his side and joked that Celtic could “afford not to win this one”
Our Hearts vs Celtic predictions conclude on those two betting tips.
