January transfer window odds round-up

| BY News Team

The January transfer window is entering its final stages but that doesn’t mean the transfer gossip has slowed down.

We look at the biggest transfer rumours that could happen as clubs look to bolster their ranks ahead of Friday’s deadline.

Krzysztof Piatek

The Polish striker has made waves at AC Milan due to his goalscoring ability and clinical finishing. With Harry Kane an injury doubt for potentially as far out as Euro 2020, Tottenham need a proven goalscorer to replace him – and Krzysztof Piatek could be their man.

Piatek had a fantastic first season with Milan, where he found it harder not to score but has recently fallen out of favour, starting the last handful of games on the bench. Tottenham are 11/8 to sign the striker but could face competition from Chelsea and Newcastle, who are priced at 4/1 and 5/1 respectively.

Ben Chilwell

The Leicester full-back has had a great year so far enjoying plenty of football with both the Foxes and the England national team. Ben Chilwell has three assists and one goal from 19 appearances in the Premier League this season and has earned the interest he’s reportedly getting from Chelsea manager Frank Lampard.

The Blues are red-hot favourites to sign the 23-year-old, priced at 3/1, while second favourites Manchester City are a distant 20/1. With Chelsea’s transfer ban no more, could we see the England International move to play in the capital?

Granit Xhaka

The Swiss international has had a season of highs and lows. The most notable low came when he went head-to-head with the Arsenal faithful while being substituted under Unai Emery, leading to him being dropped as captain and then being the victim of a tirade of abuse online. Since Mikel Arteta has taken over we’ve seen the Granit Xhaka of old return, with sturdy performances and a desire to play for Arsenal again.

However, even though Arteta has expressed his intention of keeping Xhaka for the rest of the season, that doesn’t necessarily mean the player wants to stay. He is 11/2 to move to Germany and play for Hertha Berlin while being 10/1 to sign for Italian giants AC Milan.

Gareth Bale

What a story this would be. Gareth Bale has fallen out of favour at Real Madrid, which has been well publicised and tensions only heightened when the forward and his Welsh team-mates raised a flag reading “Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order” while celebrating a win against Hungary.

There have been multiple reports saying that Bale could be on the move, and others saying that he is staying put at least until the summer. Amidst all this transfer chaos, Tottenham fans have been getting excited about the fairy tale return of their Welsh hero. They are market leaders to land Bale at 9/4, with any Chinese Super League Club being priced at 20/1.

Dries Mertens

Arteta could be set to make Dries Mertens a Gunner with Arsenal 3/1 to land his signature. The Gunners have a clinical finisher in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but the Gabon international has stated his desire to win trophies – something that Arsenal don’t look capable of just yet.

If the departure of Aubameyang does happen then Arsenal will have Brazilian wonder kid Gabriel Martinelli and out-of-form Alexandre Lacazette as their only attacking options so a move for Mertens would make sense. But they wouldn’t be the only side thinking the same – Chelsea look just as keen and are priced at 4/1 to get Mertens’ signature, while Inter Milan at 8/1 is an option for the Napoli forward should he choose to remain in Italy.
