Juventus entertain rivals Napoli on Saturday in the first match-up of the season between the sides. Gli Azzurri sit just behind The Old Lady at the top of the table and Carlo Ancelotti’s side will be hoping to end their 100% start to the season.
Juventus vs Napoli: Odds and Predictions
The William Hill traders have the Old Lady as the betting favourites for this fixture with their odds of victory priced up at 3/4. Napoli’s odds of claiming all three points is trading as an outside pick at 15/4.
A draw is betting at a 11/4 tip in our Juventus vs Napoli predictions.
Carlo Ancelotti will face off against Cristiano Ronaldo again when Juventus meet Napoli, the third time the duo will have faced each other since they brought the fabled ‘La Decima’ back to the Bernabeu.
Max Allegri’s side come into this fixture having won all five of their Serie A games this season. Napoli lag just behind with four wins of their own including wins against Lazio and AC Milan but a shock 3-0 defeat to Sampdoria.
Napoli racked up an incredible 91 points under Maurizio Sarri last season but that was not enough to win Serie A since Juventus managed 95 points to win their seventh league title in a row.
The Serie A outright winner odds have Napoli betting at a 5/1 pick and Juventus to retain their title at 1/5.
Cristiano Ronaldo was sent off against Valencia in the Champions League but Allegri confirmed he would not be rested for this match-up.
“It’s still only the start of the season, he’s not going to be available in the Champions League and he’s in good shape anyway,” Allegri said at a news conference on Tuesday.
“He needs to be playing and scoring goals and that is why he will play tomorrow.”
Head-to-head (most recent first): Juventus 0-1 Napoli, Napoli 0-1 Juventus, Napoli 1-1 Juventus, Juventus 2-1 Napoli, Juventus 1-0 Napoli.
Juventus vs Napoli: Predictions, scorer, best bet
Score prediction: 2-1 to Juventus, odds betting at 15/2
The Old Lady have been marginally better in front of goal scoring 11 times in five Italian league matches this season. Napoli have managed nine in comparison and our betting prediction is Juventus to defeat their rivals Napoli 2-1.
Neither side particularly prolific which is why we’re backing a low-scoring encounter.
Dries Mertens, Napoli’s top scorer in Serie A last season has been miss more than hit so far. He struck 18 times in the league but has managed just a solitary goal for club and country this campaign.
Gonzalo Higuain of course departed for Milan in the summer transfer window with Ronaldo yet to his heights for Juventus in terms of goals scored.
Our Juventus vs Napoli predictions forecast a glorious day for a certain Portugese forward.
We reckon Ronaldo to score two or more against Napoli is well worth a punt even though the #7 has never scored against Neapolitans in three games.
Ronaldo’s 24 goals against elite Italian opposition in the Champions League is a stat to consider however and our betting projection is that is only a matter of time before he grabs his first ever goal against Napoli.
