League 1 Predictions

WE have new divisional leaders in our EFL League One subsequent to the midweek scorelines.

And going into another hectic Saturday programme, merely three points separate the top six promotion contenders. As a consequence, League One betting activity is very popular.

Here are the pairings I am anticipating most alongside considered score predictions to guide your football betting

Stockport County v Barnsley

  • Kick-off: 12.30pm
  • Rankings: 5th versus 10th

Stockport County preview – Hovering two points beneath the summit. County nurse two consecutive EFL 3-0 defeats at home to Luton Town and away to Peterborough United respectively.

Barnsley preview – Two successive League wins see the Tykes three points shy of Play-off discussions. Those results overturned five EFL matches bereft of victory. Davis Keillor-Dunn is divisional joint leading scorer racking up eight goals.

Score prediction: Frightful 0-0.

Wigan Athletic v Stevenage

  • Kick-off: 3pm
  • Rankings: 15th versus 1st

Wigan Athletic preview – Unbeaten during four EFL outings. The 2-1 triumph at Play-Off hopefuls AFC Wimbledon last Saturday was particularly impressive with 18 year old substitute Harrison Bettoni netting twice on his League debut. Wigan conceded exactly one goal in each of their past five games across all competitions.

Stevenage preview – Enjoying a one point cushion. Boro hit the front courtesy of Tuesday night’s 1-0 success at Peterborough United. Jamie Reid’s 21st minute penalty decided this A1 derby giving Stevenage a first win among five EFL encounters. They boast League One’s tightest defensive rearguard having been breached 11 times throughout 2025/26.

Score prediction: Stevie wonders 2-1.

Cardiff City v Mansfield Town

  • Kick-off: 3pm
  • Rankings: 2nd versus 13th

Cardiff City preview – The Bluebirds lie a point off first place. Last Saturday’s 3-1 win at Northampton Town followed two straight League defeats. Their influential Welsh international midfield man Rubin Colwill damaged ankle ligaments in that game and is likely to be unavailable for several weeks.

Mansfield Town preview – Three ongoing losses in League and Cup. Fresh from leaking three goals within the opening 16 minutes of a 3-1 reverse against visitors Huddersfield Town.

Score prediction: Cardiff chirping 4-2.

Bradford City v Exeter City

  • Kick-off: 3pm
  • Rankings: 3rd versus 20th

Bradford City preview – Two points short of pole position despite seven matches lacking wins in all competitions. They’ve drawn five League games out of six. Only one home EFL defeat all campaign which was 2-1 versus Burton Albion on Saturday 8th November.

Exeter City preview – Returning to action after last Saturday’s scheduled fixture against Burton Albion was postponed due to extensive fire damage at St James Park. The Grecians have lost once amid six League and Cup affairs.

Score prediction: Bradford beaming 2-0.

Lincoln City v Port Vale

  • Kick-off: 3pm
  • Rankings: 4th versus 24th

Lincoln City preview – Three defeats peppering five EFL matches incorporating one victory. This sequence leaves the Imps two points below first spot. Their solitary home 2025/26 League loss came on Saturday 4th October, 1-0 versus Exeter City.

Port Vale preview – Rock bottom suffering seven winless League games whilst losing four of the past five. Last Saturday’s 1-0 home setback against relegation-haunted rivals Plymouth Argyle was especially devastating. Vale boss Darren Moore said: “We’re working hard to turn things around. I’m determined to get our season up and running.” Even so, Moore features heavily in League One sack race odds.

Score prediction: Impudent Imps 5-1.

Luton Town v Bolton Wanderers

  • Kick-off: 3pm
  • Rankings: 7th versus 6th

Luton Town preview – A big clash in pursuit of Play-Off qualification. The Hatters sit one point under their imminent opponents. Last Saturday’s surprise 5-0 hammering at Barnsley terminated five undefeated engagements in League and Cup. But they recovered well to dispatch visitors Huddersfield Town 2-1 on Tuesday night.

Bolton Wanderers preview – A five game winning run embracing all competitions came to a halt by drawing 0-0 at home to Bradford City on League One duties last time out. A single away EFL maximum pointer this season…2-1 versus Huddersfield Town on Thursday 16th October.

Score prediction: Free flowing 2-2.
