League 1 Predictions This Weekend – Saturday 6th September 2025

WITH fixtures in our top two divisions on hold amidst the international break, League One attracts extra football betting attention this weekend.

Analysing the early season table positions, just two sides remain unbeaten so far. Meanwhile, three teams are lacking victory. Multiple transfer deals were completed before Monday evening’s deadline.

Huddersfield Town v Peterborough United

Kick-off: 3pm
Rankings: 6th versus 24th

Huddersfield Town Preview

Twelve points to date. A decent return then under new manager Lee Grant manager following his May appointment.

Home form is excellent comprising three League wins plus a penalty shoot-out success against Championship visitors Leicester City in the League Cup and Tuesday night’s thumping 6-2 scoreline past Newcastle United Under-21’s at the Accu Stadium in Football League Trophy action.

Huddersfield completed two season long loans this week – Leicester City winger Will Alves and Aston Villa striker Zepiqueno Redmond.

Peterborough United Preview

I’m surprised to see the Posh rock bottom on a single point. Merely two goals scored and 11 conceded. They’ve been knocked out of the League Cup and Football League Trophy too.

New recruits standing by for League debuts on Saturday are striker Harry Leonard from Blackburn Rovers (undisclosed fee) as well as three loan men – Chelsea striker Jimmy-Jay Morgan, Wrexham defender Tom O’Connor and winger Jacob Mendy (also from Wrexham).

Score prediction: Terriers terrific 3-0.

Plymouth Argyle v Stockport County

Kick-off: 3pm
Rankings: 21st versus 8th

Fourth bottom on three points compounded by the division’s joint worst defence on 13 goals leaked. That’s not a good start for Tom Cleverley who was appointed head coach in June.

Indeed, Argyle’s only maximum pointer was 1-0 at home to Blackpool on 23rd August. Cleverley has sealed loan deals for Middlesbrough midfield man Law McCabe and Oxford United winger Owen Dale.

Stockport County Preview

Looking to improve on last season’s third place finish followed by the Play-Off Semi-Final defeat against Leyton Orient. Current results reflects just one defeat and unbeaten away League fortunes.

New loan signings are defender Tyler Onyango from Everton and Derby County midfielder Ben Osborn.

Score prediction: End to end 3-3.

Bolton Wanderers v AFC Wimbledon

Kick-off: 3pm
Rankings: 14th versus 12th

Four consecutive League draws. The sole victory came 2-0 at home to Plymouth Argyle on 9th August.

Incomings are Middlesbrough forward Marcus Forss (loan) and ex-Swansea City defender Cyrus Christie who has penned a one year contract.

AFC Wimbledon Preview

An ongoing run of four defeats among five games in all competitions.

Loan defender Brodi Hughes from Chelsea is in line to make his League debut for Wimbledon having played in Tuesday’s 5-1 home Football League Trophy defeat by Stevenage.

Score prediction: Honours even 2-2.

Doncaster Rovers v Bradford City

Kick-off: 3pm
Rankings: 5th versus 3rd

Game of the day in the Play-Off zone between two sides promoted from League Two together last season. Doncaster have won their past four fixtures in League and Cup.

They can unveil striker Toyosi Olusanya – on loan from MLS team Houston Dynamo until January.

Bradford City Preview

Undergoing the 45 mile journey from West for South Yorkshire. Bradford City are unbeaten over nine matches in all competitions. Their two League draws were registered on the road.

Portsmouth centre-back Tom McIntyre could face his debut as a loan newcomer.

Score prediction: Bradford buoyant 3-2.

Lincoln City v Wigan Athletic

Kick-off: 3pm
Rankings: 9th versus 13th

One point off the Play-Off discussions and undefeated at home in all competitions.

Deadline day inbound activity embraced former Wycombe Wanderers midfielder Adam Reach (one year contract), Coventry City striker Justin Obikwu (loan), Ipswich Town midfield man Finley Barbrook (loan) and Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Dexter Lembikisa (loan).

Wigan Athletic Preview

Arriving on the back of two successive League draws and yet to win away.

Completed loan arrangements feature Swansea City midfield man Ollie Cooper and Coventry City winger Raphael Borges Rodrigues. In addition, Shrewsbury Town custodian Toby Savin has agreed a one year contract.

Score prediction: As dull as ditchwater 0-0.

Wycombe Wanderers v Mansfield Town

Kick-off: 3pm
Rankings: 22nd versus 10th
