Liverpool will play host to Fulham this Saturday lunch-time to kick off match-day 12. Their visitors haven’t picked up a single point in their last six games and could be in for a trouncing against a potent Red’s lineup.
Liverpool vs Fulham: odds and predictions
Jurgen Klopp’s men are firm favourites coming into the tie, despite trading at 1/12 in our Liverpool vs Fulham predictions and betting tips. Meanwhile, the Cottagers are wagering as 25/1 outsiders, with a draw projected at 10/1.
After last week’s hard-fought draw against Unai Emery’s Arsenal, and a shock defeat to Red Star Belgrade in their midweek Champions League clash, Liverpool will want to bounce back with a handsome win against the side boasting the most woeful defensive record in the Premier League.
The usual suspects are our forecast to make the score-sheet, chiefly Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, both of whom were wasteful with chances in last weekend’s clash with Arsenal at the Emirates.
The latter man is Liverpool’s leading goalscorer, and after bagging a brace against Fulham’s relegation rivals Cardiff, we’re tipping him to up the anti and score first in Saturday’s game at Anfield, with the odds priced at 16/5.
Yet despite Fulham’s predicament, the lack of points does not tell the full story.
Slaviša Jokanović’ does possess the firepower to surprise their opposite Anfield outfit, and spearheading the attack is Andre Schurrle.
The German has picked up four goals in his opening 11 starts to the League, and alongside his sparring partner Aleksander Mitrovic, could be the key to overcoming a steely Liverpool defence.
Despite Schurrle betting at 18/1 to score first in our Liverpool vs Fulham predictions, his contribution may mean nothing, should Klopp’s men slip into fifth gear.
Liverpool vs Fulham head-to-head: (most recent first) Liverpool 3-2 Fulham, Liverpool 4-0 Fulham, Liverpool 3-1 Fulham, Liverpool 0-1 Fulham, Liverpool 0-1 Fulham.
Liverpool vs Fulham predictions: score, best bet, scorer tips
Predicted score: Liverpool to win 3-0, trading @ 11/2
Coming into this weekend’s tie, Fulham are just one of three teams yet to keep a clean sheet in English League football, and the omens do not look good for them up against a prolific Liverpool attack.
In their opening ten games, the Reds have scored 21 goals, averaging over two goals a game. Yet against a crumbling Fulham side, the Cottagers could be in for a clean sweep.
Salah, Mane and Roberto Firmino have all been firing on all cylinders on home turf, but with the likes of James Milner and Daniel Sturridge also chipping in, a 3-0 score punt in our Liverpool vs Fulham predictions and betting tips may be as good as it gets for Fulham fans.
Liverpool’s defensive strength has been their most attractive asset this season, with already only six goals conceded in their opening ten games, compared to 16 at this stage last season.
Unfortunately for Fulham, against newly-promoted teams, this stat slips up a notch, with only three goals conceded in eight games.
The second match bet of our Liverpool vs Fulham predictions follows this theme with the projection that the Red’s will comfortably keep a clean sheet, despite the odds tipped at 8/11.
The likes of Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez have been a force to be reckoned with in front of Allison Becker, and the Brazilian looks to be picking up his seventh clean sheet in 12 games.
Predicted scorer: Xherdan Shaqiri our pick to score first, odds @ 11/2
After being sidelined for the midweek Champions League clash against Red Star Belgrade, the Swiss international has the perfect opportunity to pick up where he left off against a defensively-shambolic Fulham side.
In last weekend’s 4-1 win over Cardiff, Shaqiri’s first goal in a Reds shirt was of the highest order and gave us a glimpse of his skill and ability on the ball.
Given the right opportunities in front of goal, we’re tipping him to score first and break the bank against the Cottagers.
