Manchester City predictions 2024-25 season

League 2

Manchester City, once again, had another dominant season in 2023-24, winning the UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League and just falling short in the FA Cup final, when losing to rivals Manchester United at Wembley.

At one point in the Premier League season they were very much challenged for the title by Arsenal and Liverpool, however they just proved too good yet again, winning their fourth consecutive title. Can they make it five in a row this season?

We take a look at their chances in the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and of course the most prestigious competition in Europe, the UEFA Champions League.

Premier League – 6/5

Manchester City will be attempting what no club has ever tried, as they go for their fifth consecutive English Premier League title. The market suggests they have a great chance too at 6/5 favourites.

In pre-season the Manchester City squad seem to be really finding their feet, with both Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland playing big parts in their friendlies, showing they are feeling fresh after not featuring in this summer’s Euros. This could be a factor over a long season, and gives even more reason as to why City will be a force to be reckoned with this campaign.

That said, winning the Premier League title five-times in a row will be a tough ask. At 6/5, Man City are favourites but Arsenal aren’t far behind at 13/8 to get their hands on the trophy.

Champions League – 11/4

Manchester City lost to eventual winners Real Madrid in the semi-finals last season, having won the competition the season before. With it being the pinnacle of club football, Pep Guardiola’s men will be almost definitely hold this trophy as their highest aim for this season.

However, one problem they could face is that they have currently not found a replacement for Julián Álvarez. Although Álvarez was more often than not on the bench, he was very influential when used as a substitute and at points worked well alongside Haaland. For Guardiola not to have that option of rotation, which is key for different competitions and the tight schedule, at his disposal must be seen as a negative. City are however currently favourites at 11/4 with Real Madrid (3/1) and Arsenal (8/1) their closest challengers in the market.

FA Cup – 3/1

The FA Cup is a competition which Manchester City have been very successful in since their domination of the domestic titles, having won the trophy on seven occasions in the past. The latest in 2023 when beating Manchester United 2-1 in the final.

They did however lose the most recent final to their neighbours with a reversed scoreline of 2-1. This is why the Community Shield this year is between the two Manchester sides, so Wembley will be a sea of blue and red once more.

Arsenal are the closest challengers at 6/1 in the market, but if this is a priority and they play a full-strength 11 in most rounds, then 3/1 seems a very appealing price for a side that have good history in the competition and clearly the best squad in Manchester City.

English League Cup – 3/1

Liverpool are the current holders of this trophy, having beaten Chelsea 1-0 after extra-time last season. But Manchester City rightfully find themselves at the top of the market at 3/1, which is no surprise and much like both domestic cups in the upcoming season, it depends on how seriously they take the competition.

Arsenal once again follow City in the betting at 7/1.
