Rohl new favourite for Rangers job as Gerrard exits race

Rangers FC Ibrox

Steven Gerrard has now exited talks with Rangers following the dismissal of Russell Martin, despite looking set to take the job earlier in the week, with Danny Rohl now the favourite.

Ex-Sheff Wed boss installed as 4/7 frontrunner; McInnes and Muscat both 13/2

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Steven Gerrard looked set for a return to Ibrox as we suspended betting on Russell Martin’s replacement on Thursday, but with the Liverpool legend ruling himself out of the running, Danny Rohl is the new favourite to take on the Rangers’ hotseat.

“Rohl is out of work having stepped away from crisis club Sheffield Wednesday over the summer, and we price the German at 4/7 to head north of the border.

“Derek McInnes, who has taken Hearts to the top of the William Hill Premiership, is 13/2 second favourite, alongside ex-Rangers defender Kevin Muscat – currently coaching in China.”
