Next Rangers Manager Odds: Slaven Bilić Rockets Into Contention

Rangers FC Ibrox

Slaven Bilić has rocketed into contention to become the next Rangers manager, after a dramatic shift in the betting market with William Hill.

It looked as if Steven Gerrard would make the return to Ibrox, however reports have now emerged that he won’t step into the vacancy. It’s understood that Gerrard and the Rangers hierarchy were unable to reach an agreement on key terms, leading to negotiations breaking down.

His decision not to return leaves the club continuing their search for a new manager, with other candidates – including Danny Röhl and Slaven Bilić – now leading the betting. While Gerrard remains a popular figure among supporters, attention has shifted to fresh names who could bring new ideas and momentum to Ibrox as the club looks to get its season back on track.

Bilic has seen his odds slashed from 20/1 to just 6/1 overnight, following a surge of support for him to take over at Ibrox. Bilić, who has managed clubs such as West Ham, West Brom and Watford, now sits second in the betting behind current favourite Danny Röhl, who remains odds-on at 10/11, though his price has drifted slightly from 4/7 on Sunday.

Röhl appears to be the front runner for the job and has quickly built a strong reputation in English football due to his impressive work at Sheffield Wednesday. Under his leadership, Wednesday climbed out of the relegation zone and secured their safety on the final day, earning widespread praise for the turnaround.

At just 35 years old, his proven ability to revitalise struggling teams make him an attractive proposition for Rangers as they seek a new direction and renewed intensity on the pitch.

Former Rangers defender Kevin Muscat has been eased out to 7/1, while Gary O’Neil is next in line at 8/1 as speculation continues to swirl around who will replace Russell Martin in the Ibrox dugout.

Here’s how the current betting looks with William Hill:

Next Permanent Rangers Manager

  • Danny Röhl – 10/11
  • Slaven Bilić – 6/1
  • Kevin Muscat – 7/1
  • Gary O’Neil – 8/1
  • Raphael Wicky – 9/1
  • Derek McInnes – 9/1
  • BAR – 9/1

William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps said: “The latest name on everyone’s lips to become the next permanent Rangers manager is Slaven Bilic, who has shortened dramatically over the past 24 hours in the market for who will replace Russell Martin.

“Bilic was a 20/1 shot yesterday evening but has seen his odds plummet to just 6/1 as of Monday morning, placing him second in the betting behind Danny Rohl, who remains odds-on for the role but at a slightly longer price of 10/11, having drifted from 4/7 on Sunday.

“Former Rangers defender Kevin Muscat has since been pushed out to 7/1 but occupies third in the market, with Gary O’Neil (8/1) rounding off the top four to take over at the William Hill Scottish Premiership strugglers.”

With nothing official yet, there’s no doubt there will be more twists and turns in the betting for the next Rangers manager.
