Premier League 2025/26 Outright Odds: Liverpool leapfrogged by Man City after Man Utd loss

Arsenal become odds-on favourites for the Premier League title, as Liverpool drift behind Manchester City after their loss.

Manchester City have overtaken Liverpool in William Hill’s Premier League outright market following the reigning champions’ shock 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Anfield yesterday.

The result marks a significant shift in the betting landscape, with Arsenal tightening their grip on favouritism after edging a narrow victory at Fulham on Saturday. The Gunners, who continue to show composure and resilience under Mikel Arteta, are now 8/11 to lift the Premier League trophy.

City’s price has shortened to 10/3, moving them ahead of Liverpool, who have drifted out to 4/1 – their longest odds to win the title since October 2024. The defeat also represents the Reds’ first home loss to Manchester United in almost a decade and their fourth defeat in all competitions this season – their highest total at this stage since 2014.

William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps said: “Liverpool’s 2-1 home defeat to Manchester United has really shaken up the race for the Premier League title, with Arsenal now the strong favourites to win the league this season, priced at 8/11.

“Manchester City have moved into 10/3, nudging ahead of Arne Slot’s Reds who are out to 4/1 – their biggest price for the league in twelve months. While there’s still plenty of football to be played, the feeling is that Liverpool need to turn things around sooner rather than later if they’re to stay in contention for the title this season, with Arsenal and Man City both looking strong in the opening eight games of the campaign.”

Premier League Title Race Tightens

Arsenal’s consistent early-season form has made them clear front-runners, with their odds-on status reflecting a growing belief that Arteta’s men can go one better than last season. Despite injuries and a congested fixture list, Arsenal’s tactical stability and defensive strength have kept them ahead of their rivals.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola’s City appear to be regaining momentum after an inconsistent start to the campaign. Their shorter odds of 10/3 indicate renewed confidence among punters that City can once again mount a strong challenge as the season progresses.

Liverpool, on the other hand, face increasing pressure after a disappointing run of results. Arne Slot’s side have struggled to replicate the intensity and sharpness of earlier performances as his new squad continue getting to grips with one another. Their latest defeat may prove costly in a title race that is already shaping up to be one of the most competitive in years.

Chelsea remain at 20/1, with Manchester United out to 40/1 despite their morale-boosting victory at Anfield. Beyond the top five, prices drift sharply, with 66/1 bar the field – underlining a clear three-horse race between Arsenal, City, and Liverpool as things stand.

With key fixtures approaching in November and December, the next few weeks could prove pivotal in determining whether Arsenal maintain their momentum or if City and Liverpool can close the gap.
