There could be a whole heap of changes at Anfield this summer, with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold linked with a Liverpool exit.
Liverpool look set to claim a second Premier League title but that hasn’t stopped the transfer rumours, with several key players out of contract in the near future.
Van Dijk, Salah and Alexander-Arnold, three of the most prominent figures in the Reds squad, are all free agents this summer and the clock is certainly ticking as we enter the business end of the season.
Arne Slot’s side are clear at the top of the Premier League table and the football betting markets suggest that Liverpool will be lifting the crown at the end of the season. But will the likes of Van Dijk, Salah and Alexander-Arnold stay at Anfield or head for the exit?
Here, we look at the aforementioned Liverpool players and consider their next move – should they stay or should they go now? Only time will tell but punters can find Player Specials and other transfer odds via William Hill now.
Virgil van Dijk Transfer
As of March 19th 2025, Van Dijk has yet to commit to a contract extension but it seems that he is more likely to remain at Liverpool than leave the club.
Reds supporters will be hoping to see the Dutchman sign a new deal in the coming weeks, especially as there is growing interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Van Dijk has been a huge hit at Anfield and his departure would be felt both on and off the pitch. He is a leader in the dressing room and his presence alone is enough to put the fear of God into opposing strikers.
If he puts pen to paper and commits his future to the club, he may cement his status as one of the Premier League’s greatest ever defenders.
Mohamed Salah Transfer
Mo Salah turns 33 this summer but he’s showing no signs of slowing down, breaking a number of records throughout the 2024/25 campaign.
The Liverpool forward is clear at the top of the Golden Boot standings with 27 goals, six clear of nearest rival Erling Haaland. In addition, he has recorded 17 assists – seven more than Bukayo Saka, Mikkel Damsgaard and Antonee Robinson.
The vibes are that Salah will sign a new contract at Anfield and it might be a deal that keeps him at Liverpool for the remainder of his career.
There are several Saudi Arabian clubs interested in acquiring the Egypt star but Salah has Ballon d’Or aspirations and he looks likely to stay with the Reds.
Trent Alexander-Arnold Transfer
As of March 2025, Trent Alexander-Arnold is the most likely to leave the club – with many believing that a move to Real Madrid is looking likely.
Alexander-Arnold has missed just one Premier League game all season but rumours suggest that he will be lining up at the Santiago Bernabeu next season.
Alexander-Arnold missed the EFL Cup final defeat to Newcastle through injury and Reds fans will be hoping that he returns to the starting XI sooner rather than later.
He is a key figure for Liverpool and he deserves the opportunity to go out on a high – should he opt to depart for pastures new this summer.
