Solskjær goes odds-on for Man Utd return

Manchester United are on the hunt for a new manager following the sacking of Ruben Amorim, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been backed into the favourite.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær is now the 4/5 odds-on favourite with William Hill to make a sensational return as Manchester United manager.

The former United striker, who previously led the club between 2018 and 2021, has seen strong support from punters, having been backed in from 10/1 to 4/5 to take charge once again at Old Trafford.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is the 3/1 second favourite in the betting, while current United coach Darren Fletcher is priced at 4/1 to turn his interim role into a permanent appointment. Former England boss Gareth Southgate is also prominent in the market at 11/2.

Michael Carrick, who remains highly regarded after his time at Manchester United and Middlesbrough, is available at 8/1, while Enzo Maresca, who recently left Chelsea, can be backed at 9/1. PSG manager Luis Enrique has entered the market this morning at 10/1.

Next Permanent Manchester United Manager:

Punters can bet on the next Manchester United manager at William Hill and here is the current state of the market:

  • Ole Gunnar Solskjær – 4/5
  • Oliver Glasner – 3/1
  • Darren Fletcher – 4/1
  • Gareth Southgate – 11/2
  • Michael Carrick – 8/1
  • Enzo Maresca – 9/1
  • Luis Enrique – 10/1
  • BAR – 14/1

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “The betting for the next permanent Manchester United manager has seen a huge shift, with Ole Gunnar Solskjær now the clear odds-on favourite at 4/5 after being backed in dramatically from 10/1. That kind of move tells you everything about where punters think this situation could be heading, with many believing a return to Old Trafford makes sense given his history with the club.

“Oliver Glasner is the 3/1 second favourite and continues to attract interest following his impressive work at Crystal Palace, while Darren Fletcher is 4/1 to be appointed permanently after stepping in on an interim basis. Gareth Southgate is next in the betting at 11/2, with his experience at international level appealing to some bettors.

“Michael Carrick remains popular at 8/1, Enzo Maresca is 9/1 following his departure from Chelsea, and Luis Enrique has entered the market at 10/1 this morning. There’s plenty of depth in this market, but right now it’s all about Solskjær at the head of the betting.”
