Now, let’s take a closer look at some betting angles for Saturday’s Premier League fixtures:
Bournemouth v Nottingham Forest – Saturday, 3pm
- Bournemouth stunned Newcastle last Saturday with a 4-1 victory at St James’ Park, they are just one point behind the European places prior to this game.
- The Cherries are now unbeaten in their last eleven games across all competitions, lost just two EPL games on home soil this season.
- Bournemouth haven’t lost to Nottingham Forest since 2015, nine competitive games ago. Three of the last four meetings between these two have ended in a draw.
——————————– - Nottingham Forest’s remarkable season continued on Sunday, a 3-2 victory against Southampton has moved Forest on level points with Arsenal, six behind Liverpool at the top.
- The Tricky Trees are also on a brilliant unbeaten run, it’s now nine games without defeat across all competitions.
- Both sides have found the back of the net in all of their last five meetings, we could see the same here.
Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Draw, Bournemouth 1-1 Nottingham Forest.
Brighton & Hove Albion v Everton – Saturday, 3pm
- Fabian Hurzeler’s side made it back-to-back Premier League victories for the first time since November following their impressive 3-1 victory away to Manchester United.
- Brighton have seen both teams score in seventeen of their twenty-two PL games so far (77%), whilst the same outcome has occurred in eight of their ten home games.
- Brighton beat Everton comfortably in the first meeting of the season at Goodison Park, five of the last six meetings have seen both teams find the back of the net.
——————————– - David Moyes picked up his first three points of the season in charge of Everton at the second time of asking after their 3-2 victory over Tottenham on Sunday.
- The Toffees will need to improve on their away record, David Moyes will be aware of that as they’ve won just one of their ten PL away games this season.
- The Blues have a good record here, having not lost in any of their last four visits, i’m going against the odds in this one and backing a stalemate.
Prediction: Draw, Brighton 1-1 Everton.
Southampton v Newcastle United – Saturday, 3pm
- Another defeat for Southampton on Sunday means Championship football is looking more and more likely for Ivan Jurić’s side.
- The Saints have won just one of their twenty-two outings following their return to the English top-flight, that came back in November here at St Marys.
- Southampton haven’t beaten Newcastle in their last eight attempts, it’ll be a big shock if they win here.
——————————– - Following nine victories in a row across all competitions for Newcastle, they came back down to earth after a 4-1 thrashing on home soil against Bournemouth.
- The Magpies are now sixth but still just two points off the top four, a victory here would see them leapfrog both Chelsea and Man City and into fourth, for a couple of hours at least.
- Eddie Howe’s side have won the last three meetings between these two on the south coast, whilst they’ve also scored two or more in their last five away trips across all competitions.
Prediction: Southampton 1-3 Newcastle United, Alexander Isak to score first.
Liverpool v Ipswich Town – Saturday, 3pm
- Liverpool got through another tricky test in the UCL on Tuesday evening, a 2-1 victory against Lille has all but confirmed their spot at the top of the Champions League group phase.
- The Reds have still lost only once in the Premier League under Arne Slot, they sit six points clear at the top with a game in hand over their title contenders.
- Liverpool are now unbeaten in their last fourteen games at Anfield, with wins coming in twelve of those.
——————————– - Ipswich felt the full force of the Premier League on Sunday evening when they were defeated 6-0 by Manchester City, making a real dent in their goal difference.
- Goal difference is the only thing keeping the Tractor Boys from safety at the moment, they’ll want to make sure they don’t ship too many in this one.
- It’s hard to put a case together for Ipswich here, mainly because of Liverpool’s form right not but also the fact that Kieran McKenna’s side have won just two of their ten away games so far.
Prediction: Liverpool 3-0 Ipswich Town, Mo Salah to score two or more.
Wolves v Arsenal – Saturday, 3pm
- It was a brilliant start for Vitor Pereira as the new Wolves boss, the Old Gold went three games unbeaten but the honeymoon period looks to be over now, having lost all of their last three Premier League outings.
- It could get worse for Wolves during January, with their star-player Matheus Cunha possibly on his way out of the club, it would be a huge loss.
- Wolves won’t be confident going into this one, having lost all of their last seven meetings with Arsenal.
——————————– - Following their 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday, Arsenal didn’t have to wait long to bounce back, they did just that with a 3-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday night.
- The Gunners are six points behind the league leaders albeit having played an extra game, they cannot afford many more slip-ups if they really want to mount the pressure on Liverpool.
- Mikel Arteta’s side are unbeaten in their last seven away games in all competitions, whilst they’ve won three of the last five at Molineux by the same scoreline (0-2).
Prediction: Wolves 0-2 Arsenal, Kai Havertz to score anytime.
Manchester City v Chelsea – Saturday, 5.30pm
- Just when Manchester City looked to had turned a corner, their defeat to PSG, in which they were 2-0 up in, has raised more questions over Pep Guardiola’s side.
- City must forget about Wednesday’s defeat and their huge UCL clash next week, as a victory here would move them above Chelsea and into the top four.
- Man City hold a really good record against Chelsea, they’ve not lost in their last ten competitive fixtures against the London side, their last defeat came in the UEFA Champions League final in 2021.
——————————– - Like Man City, Chelsea have also been inconsistent in recent weeks but head to the Etihad Stadium off the back of a 3-1 victory against Wolves.
- Enzo Maresca’s side hold a two-point advantage in fourth place, anything other than a defeat could be seen as a positive result as they’ve not won here since May 2021, three weeks before that famous UCL win.
- Chelsea will likely need to keep Erling Haaland quiet if they are to avoid defeat here, the striker has scored five goals in his last five games, also scored in this meeting earlier in the season.
Prediction: Man City 2-2 Chelsea, Chelsea to come from behind to draw or win.
