There’s another great round of fixtures in the Premier League over the next few days, including Chelsea’s trip to Leicester. Here is our midweek preview ahead of another important round of fixtures.
Leicester to go top for 24 hours?
The first key battle this week comes from the King Power stadium where Leicester take on Chelsea in a game that could see the Foxes go top of the table…
Leicester currently sit in third spot in the Premier League, but a win would see them climb above both Man City and Man Utd and into top spot. Despite being four places above Chelsea, Brendan Rodgers’ side are priced as 19/10 underdogs to defeat The Blues but their recent form against them will fill them with confidence heading into this fixture. Leicester are unbeaten in their last five Premier League meetings with Chelsea, though four of these games have ended in a draw.
Chelsea’s key goal at the moment is to grind out points and after their 1-0 win against a stern Fulham side on Saturday evening, they will be hoping to kick on with another win. Since beating Leeds to go top of the table in December, Chelsea have taken just seven points from their last 21 available in the Premier League so they will be eyeing up more points this time round. You can get Chelsea to win at 7/5.
City to swipe The Villains aside?
Dean Smith’s Aston Villa head to Manchester on Wednesday evening to take on Pep Guardiola’s Man City but could an upset be on the cards?
Man City are the on-fire team in the Premier League at the moment with Guardiola’s side becoming the first team in the league to win five consecutive games this season. A stat that will fill Guardiola with confidence is that his team have conceded just seven times at home this season – the fewest in the Premier League. City are, as expected, the favourites heading into this fixture at 1/4 but if you feel they can score plenty again, you can get them to win with a -1 handicap at 8/13.
Aston Villa’s form on the road this season has been brilliant with the Villains winning five of their eight Premier League away games this season which is as many as they had in their previous 49 on the road in the competition. Dean Smith’s side are currently priced as massive 11/1 underdogs heading into this game but we have seen strange things happen this season so do not write them off…
United to continue their unbeaten run?
Top of the table Man Utd travel to south west London to face Fulham at Craven Cottage on Wednesday evening with the hope of keeping their place at the top of the tree.
Although Fulham have managed to steady the ship in recent times, they still sit in the relegation zone alongside West Brom and Sheffield United. In their last 11 fixtures against Man Utd, Fulham are winless and have also conceded an alarming 29 goals in that run. The Cottagers are priced at a tasty 11/2 to cause an upset against United and after strong performances against Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea in recent weeks, you can’t count them out.
Man Utd, on the other hand, are sitting two points clear at the top of the table after their goalless draw against Liverpool on Sunday and they will be looking to stay there with a win this time round. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are priced as 8/15 favourites on Wednesday night and with their current away form, you would expect them to continue their great run. United are the only side in the league who remain unbeaten away from home whilst they have also picked up the most amount of points (23) and scored the most amount of goals (22) on the road.
