Premier League Betting Tips for Saturday 27th December

Premier League Puma Ball 2025-26

This weekend will see the Premier League get underway for Matchday eighteen of this campaign, with the table starting to take shape and a few teams already upsetting the apple cart, we’re all set for another weekend of pure PL drama.

@Footy_Tipster gives his best predictions ahead of this round of fixtures in the English Premier League..

Saturday will be a busy day in the Premier League with seven games taking place across the country.

First up, Nottingham Forest will welcome title contenders Manchester City to the City Ground at 12.30pm.

At the traditional time of 3pm, the league leaders Arsenal will be looking to continue their spell at the top of the league when they face Brighton at the Emirates Stadium, Brentford and Bournemouth will meet in west London, Everton make the short trip to Lancashire to face Burnley, Liverpool welcome the bottom side Wolves at Anfield, whilst West Ham and Fulham clash in an all-London affair.

Later on Saturday evening, Chelsea and Aston Villa will battle it out for three points in an intriguing encounter.

Now, let’s take a closer look at some Premier League odds and Premier League betting angles for Saturday’s fixtures:

Nottingham Forest v Manchester City – Saturday, 12.30pm

Punters can bet on Nottingham Forest v Manchester City with William Hill

  • Nottingham Forest headed into Christmas seeing their two game winning streak come to an end after a poor performance on Monday night away at Fulham, a 1-0 defeat has kept Sean Dyche’s side in seventeenth and just five points from safety.
  • The Tricky Trees will be happy to return to the City Ground on Saturday as they’ve lost just one of their six games here under Sean Dyche (W4, D1, L1), Forest haven’t lost back to back games under their new manager.
  • However, it’s always a challenging fixture when you face Manchester City and Forest have been defeated by two or more goals in four of the last five meetings between the two, we could be in for more of the same on Saturday.
    ——————————–————————
  • Manchester City have really closed the gap on Arsenal at the top now and Pep Guardiola’s side could leapfrog their title contenders for a couple of hours at least if they are able to take all three points here, a worry for Arsenal given City tend to kick on after Christmas.
  • Speaking of form, the Cityzens have now won each of their last seven games in all competitions after their 3-0 victory against West Ham on Saturday, Erling Haaland managed another two goals for the season, taking his tall to nineteen goals already in the league.
  • History of this fixture suggests this won’t be easy though for City, they’ve won just won of their last four trips to the City Ground and lost 1-0 here back in March. With all that being said, i’m going to back Pep’s side just to edge this one.

Prediction: Manchester City To Win To Nil, Nottingham Forest 0-2 Man City.

Arsenal v Brighton – Saturday, 3pm

Punters can bet on Arsenal v Brighton with William Hill

  • It’s fair to say that luck was definitely on Arsenal’s side in their game against the bottom side Wolverhampton Wanderers, they had to rely on two own-goals including one in the 94th minute to get all three points and maintain their spot at the top.
  • Mikel Arteta’s side built on that victory with another win in the league on Saturday night, a tough trip to Merseyside to face Everton could have been a potential banana skin but the Gunners headed back to the capital with all three points and another clean sheet (0-1).
  • Arsenal sit top at Christmas for the third time in the last four seasons, having done so just twice in the first 30 Premier League campaigns. However, the Gunners have gone on to finish either 2nd (2002-03, 2022-23, 2023-24) or 3rd (2007-08) on each of those previous four occasions.
    ——————————–
  • Having put together a four game unbeaten run in November, Brighton have struggled so far in December as they look for their first win of the month, having drawn two and lost two, most recently with a goalless draw against Sunderland.
  • December always tends to be difficult for the Seagulls, they are winless in their last ten Premier League games in December (D6 L4) since beating Spurs 4-2 in 2023. In fact, only in April (19.4%) do they have a lower win rate in the Premier League than they do in December (20.8%).
  • This is Brighton’s second trip to the Emirates already this season having lost 2-0 here in the EFL Cup back in October, i think we’ll see something similar in this one to be honest with Arsenal keeping another clean sheet.

Prediction: Arsenal To Win To Nil, Arsenal 2-0 Brighton.

Brentford v Bournemouth – Saturday, 3pm

Punters can bet on Brentford v Bournemouth with William Hill

  • Brentford were yet to pick up a victory in December having drawn one and lost three, including their quarter-final tie in the EFL Cup against Manchester City on Wednesday night before picking up all three points on the road against Wolves on Saturday.
  • The Bees come into this fixture in twelfth place and two places above Saturday’s opponents, Keith Andrews’ side are now ten points clear of the drop and just six points from the top four, it’s getting very congested.
  • Brentford have been solid on home soil this season and only four sides have a better home record than the Bees, having lost just won of their first eight games so far (W5, D2, L1), whilst they are unbeaten here in their last four outings.
    ——————————–
  • It’s been a terrible few weeks for Bournemouth after an unbelievable start to the season seems to be a distant memory already, the Cherries enter Matchday eighteen in the bottom half having not won any of their last eight Premier League games.
  • Andoni Iraola’s side were backed on the betting market last weekend to beat struggling Burnley on home soil but despite dominating possession and shots on goal, that didn’t stop them conceding a last minute equaliser to really dampen those festive spirits.
  • Things don’t look as if they are going to improve either on Saturday if the history is anything to go by, the Cherries haven’t beat Brentford in any of their last eight attempts in all competitions, whilst they’ve not won away at Brentford in their last twelve attempts, since their 2-0 victory in League One back in 2005.

Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Brentford To Win, Brentford 3-2 Bournemouth.

Burnley v Everton – Saturday, 3pm

Punters can bet on Burnley v Everton with William Hill

  • Since securing back-to-back wins against two fellow relegation candidates in Leeds and Wolves, things hadn’t gone to plan for the Clarets having lost seven games in a row which was the first time they’ve done that since 1895.
  • However, Scott Parker’s side managed to stop the rot on (sort of) on Saturday with a late equaliser away at Bournemouth to give them a vital point as they dream of Premier League survival, although it already looks like a big ask.
  • Scott Parker must be concerned, especially as he’s seen his side concede at least two goals in nine of their last twelve Premier League games, only Wolves and West Ham have conceded more than Burnley’s thirty-four goals thus far.
    ——————————–
  • Everton’s fine form (W4, D1) ended at Stamford Bridge with a 2-0 defeat against Chelsea and the Toffees then had to face the league leaders Arsenal on Saturday night, a 1-0 defeat meant it’s consecutive defeats in the league for just the second time this season.
  • With twenty-four points so far, it’s the highest tally at this stage since the 2020/2021 campaign, a season where they finished tenth under Carlo Ancelotti, there’s just some real signs of positivity for this Everton side.
  • I’m not expecting goals in this one at Turf Moor, only one of Burnley’s eight league home games this season have produced three or more goals, whilst Everton have seen just two of their eight away games so far produce the same. Everton have won the last three meetings without conceding, could we be in for more of the same?

Prediction: Under 2.5 Goals, Burnley 0-1 Everton.

Liverpool v Wolves – Saturday, 3pm

Punters can bet on Liverpool v Wolves with William Hill

  • Liverpool made it three wins in a row on Saturday with a 2-1 victory against the nine-men of Tottenham Hotspur, the Reds had to do it without Mo Salah with the Egyptian king participating in AFCON.
  • Arne Slot will also be without Alexander Isak for the foreseeable future after the striker had to go off injured on Saturday straight after scoring for Liverpool but they shouldn’t miss him too much given the form of Hugo Ekitike right now.
  • As if Liverpool didn’t need any more encouragement ahead of welcoming one of the worst Premier League sides we’ve seen, the fact they’ve won sixteen of their last seventeen Premier League meetings with the Old Gold gives you an indication as to why they are the big favourites in this one.
    ——————————–
  • Wolves sit bottom of the Premier League table and remain the only side that are still yet to pick up three points so far, with history showing that no side have ever survived relegation with a points tally as low as that of Wolves at this stage of the season.
  • The Old Gold are winless in their last twenty-one games in the league and another uninspiring performance against Brentford in front of their own fans last weekend means Rob Edwards’ side are already sixteen points from safety, incredible.
  • Wolves have lost each of their last ten Premier League games, their longest losing run in their league history. Only three teams have ever lost 10+ consecutive Premier League matches within the same season.

Prediction: Liverpool -2 Handicap, Liverpool 3-0 Wolves.

West Ham v Fulham – Saturday, 3pm

Punters can bet on West Ham v Fulham with William Hill

  • West Ham extended their winless run at the weekend to six games now in the Premier League with a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City, a defeat which keeps the Irons in the bottom three and now five points from safety at the time of writing.
  • The Hammers have seen both teams score in five of their eight home games in the league so far, whilst they’ve won six of their last seven meetings on home soil against Fulham, they’ve got a chance to pick up their first win in three games at home.
  • West Ham’s defence is particularly weak, having conceded 20 goals at the London Stadium, the second-highest in the league (Burnley), something that Nuno Espirito Santo will need to address if they are to stay in this division.
    ——————————–
  • It’s been a hit and miss December for Fulham so far, they were able to bounce back from consecutive defeats in the Premier League with a 3-2 victory away to Burnley which gave them a seven point gap to the bottom three, however a 2-1 defeat away to Newcastle meant any EFL Cup dreams for the Cottagers were cut short for another year.
  • Fulham bounced back on Monday night though with a 1-0 victory against Nottingham Forest, a result which moves Marco Silva’s side up to thirteenth and ten points clear off the bottom three, as they look to climb the table.
  • This is a huge game for both sides and it feels like a real crossroads game, if Fulham win here they will put a thirteen point gap between themselves and West Ham in the relegation zone, if they lose, they could find themselves in a battle to stay up.

Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Draw, West Ham 1-1 Fulham.

Chelsea v Aston Villa – Saturday, 5.30pm

Punters can bet on Chelsea v Aston Villa with William Hill

  • Chelsea stopped their winless run of four games last weekend with a 2-0 victory against Everton, that was then followed up with a 3-1 victory against League One side Cardiff to secure their spot in the EFL Cup semi-final, before taking a trip to Newcastle
  • The Blues showed real character after coming from two goals behind at St James’ Park with a really strong second half performance, the point gained keeps Chelsea fourth only on goal difference, if they lose this one they’ll find themselves ten points behind Villa.
  • Despite losing just twice here in the League this season, the concern for Chelsea will be their recent history when Villa have travelled to Stamford Bridge, the Blues have lost two of their last three Premier League meetings here against the Villans.
    ——————————–
  • Aston Villa have found some real form after such a slow start to the campaign, the Villans have now won each of their last ten games in all competitions including the last seven Premier League games, moving them up to third and just three points behind Arsenal at the top.
  • Unai Emery’s side come into this one fresh off a 2-1 victory against Manchester United at Villa Park on Sunday and they are starting to look like the real deal having lost just three of their seventeen league games this season, two of which did come away from home.
  • This is a tough one to call but it should be an entertaining one, Villa have won each of their last four away games in all competitions, whilst the last four meetings between these two sides have produced at least three goals.

Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Over 2.5 Goals, Chelsea 2-1 Aston Villa.
