@Footy_Tipster gives his best predictions ahead of this round of fixtures in the English Premier League..
It’s a busy day in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, with five games taking place up and down the country. Make sure to check out this weeks Acca on William Hill News.
At 2pm, Crystal Palace will welcome Manchester City to Selhurst Park, Nottingham Forest return to the City Ground to take on Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland and Newcastle clash in this fiery Tyne-Wear derby, whilst West Ham United take on Aston Villa in the capital.
Later on Sunday evening, Leeds are another side that head to the capital, they’ll take on Brentford in west London at 4.30pm.

Now, let’s take a closer look at some Premier League odds and Premier League betting angles for Sunday’s fixtures:
Crystal Palace v Manchester City – Sunday, 2pm
Punters can bet on Crystal Palace v Manchester City with William Hill
- Crystal Palace have bounced back from their successive defeats with three wins in a row now in all competitions, all of which have come on the road including Thursday night’s 3-0 victory in Dublin against Shelbourne in the UEFA Conference League.
- The Eagles return to Selhurst Park for the first time since that defeat to Manchester United at the end of November which might not be a good thing, having won just twice here in their seven league games this season (W2, D4, L1).
- This fixture will always remain a special one for Crystal Palace as it was a victory against City back in May which saw the Eagles lift the FA Cup trophy for the first time, however it’s not been a kind fixture in the league with the Eagles beating City just once in their last thirteen attempts.
——————————–———————— - Manchester City have really closed the gap on Arsenal at the top now and if results go there way this weekend, Pep Guardiola’s side could find themselves at the summit which would be music to City’s ears given they tend to really kick on after the Christmas period.
- The Cityzens were able to build on their three game winning run with a midweek trip to face Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, a 2-1 victory extended that run to four games now, they now have the chance to win five games in a row for the first time this season.
- Pep Guardiola’s side tend to like their trips to Selhurst Park, having not lost here in their last eleven visits (W8, D3), whilst the last four league games between the two sides have been entertaining ones, each of which have produced at least four goals.
Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Man City To Win, Crystal Palace 1-2 Manchester City.
Nottingham Forest v Tottenham Hotspur – Sunday, 2pm
Punters can bet on Nottingham Forest v Tottenham Hotspur with William Hill
- Nottingham Forest had given themselves a four point gap to the bottom three with a few victories in the PL under Sean Dyche but having lost 3-0 away to Everton last weekend, the Tricky Tree’s have slipped to seventeenth on goal-difference, just two points above the drop.
- Forest did manage a 2-1 victory on Thursday night away at Utrecht in the UEFA Europa League, but victory here could be a tough ask if history is anything to go by, as boss Sean Dyche has won just two of his 17 Premier League games against Spurs (D5 L10), with both of those victories coming with Burnley (2-1 February 2019, 1-0 February 2022).
- The Tricky Tree’s did manage to complete the double over Tottenham last season putting an end to a six game winless run against the side from North London, whilst Forest have lost just one of their five games in all competitions at home under their new boss.
——————————– - After a tricky November which saw this Spurs side win just one of their six games in all competitions, it’s fair to say December has been better so far for Thomas Frank’s side who have won three of their three games (W2, D1) and come into this one fresh off the back of their recent UCL victory against Slavia Prague.
- Following their 2-0 win over Brentford last time out, Tottenham are looking to win consecutive league games for the first time since August when they beat Burnley and Manchester City in their opening two games.
- This is a tough one to call but you cannot underestimate Spurs’ ability to score goals on the road, they’ve scored two or more goals in six of their seven Premier League away games this season (86%), only failing against Arsenal in which they still scored once.
Prediction: Tottenham To Score Over 1.5 Goals, Nottingham Forest 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur.
Sunderland v Newcastle – Sunday, 2pm
Punters can bet on Sunderland v Newcastle with William Hill
- Sunderland just keep on defying the odds in this Premier League campaign, they’ll be full of confidence when they welcome their fierce rivals Newcastle on Sunday, as they’ve picked up their joint-highest Premier League points after the first fifteen games, whilst they remain just one of two sides (Arsenal) that are yet to suffer a defeat on home soil (W4, D3).
- This is the first Premier League meeting between these two sides since 2015, Sunderland have won the last three PL meetings here but will be conscious of the fact that Newcastle rocked up here in January 2024 and won 3-0 in the FA Cup.
- The Black Cats have more points at the Stadium of Light this term (15) than they managed in the whole of their last campaign in the top-flight (14 in 2016-17), so with the Stadium of Light rocking, this one could be one to remember.
——————————– - Newcastle will make the short trip on Sunday in twelfth spot, one point behind their rivals but with three wins from their last four Premier League outings (W3, D1), Eddie Howe’s side look to be turning their season around as they look to climb the table.
- However, it’s been tough on the road so far for the Magpies, they’ve won just one of their seven league games thus far away from home although that did come away to Everton in their last PL away trip, they’ve not won consecutive PL games on the road since March/April earlier this year.
- Newcastle have lost their last three away league games against Sunderland, more than they had in their previous 21 visits combined (W6 D13 L2). They’ve never lost four in a row at the Mackems before, i’m going to back these two bitter rivals to share the spoils.
Prediction: Draw, Sunderland 1-1 Newcastle.
West Ham v Aston Villa – Sunday, 2pm
Punters can bet on West Ham v Aston Villa with William Hill
- West Ham return to familiar surroundings after two games away from home, both of which ended in a 1-1 stalemate against Brighton and Manchester United, two precious points for the Hammers who enter matchday sixteen inside the bottom three.
- It’s been their worst start since the 2017-2018 campaign for West Ham having picked up just 13 points in 15 Premier League games this season (W3 D4 L8), However, in their last three campaigns when they’ve had 13 or fewer points at this stage, they’ve avoided relegation – 13 in 2013-14 (came 13th), 13 in 2016-17 (11th) and 10 in 2017-18 (13th).
- The Irons will be aware of their poor record in recent years against Aston Villa and may have to wait to get themselves out of the bottom three if we look at the history, they’ve won none of their last six meetings against Villa (D3, L3).
——————————– - Aston Villa have found some real form after such a slow start to the campaign, the Villans have now won each of their last eight games in all competitions including the last five Premier League games, moving them up to third and just three points behind Arsenal at the top.
- Unai Emery’s side come into this one fresh off their trip to Switzerland on Thursday night where they beat Basel 2-1 to claim their third away victory in a row across all competitions, they haven’t won four in a row since March/April 2025.
- I’m going to back goals in this one as eleven of the last twelve meetings have seen both teams on the scoresheet, Villa have won just one of their last ten trips to West Ham so i’m going to back a stalemate in this one.
Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Draw, West Ham 1-1 Aston Villa.
Brentford v Leeds United – Sunday, 4.30pm
Punters can bet on Brentford v Leeds United with William Hill
- Brentford sit fourteenth in the Premier League and only four points ahead of Leeds United towards the relegation zone, defeat in this one for the Bees would drag them back into a battle that they could do without.
- Having struggled on the road this season with just one win in their first eight away games, Keith Andrews will be glad to return to familiar surroundings as they’ve got the fourth best home record in the league so far, having picked up sixteen points. (W5, D1, L1).
- We could be in for goals in this one, with five of Brentford’s last six home league games producing at least four goals and whilst they’ve lost their last two Premier League games, they haven’t lost three in a row since February 2024, while they’ve never gone three in a row without scoring in the PL.
——————————– - The pressure had been ramped up now on Daniel Farke after seeing his side slip into the bottom three after four defeats in a row but his side bounced back in style when a victory against Chelsea was followed up with a dramatic 3-3 against Liverpool to relieve a bit of that pressure.
- Leeds have lost their last nine Premier League games in London, with their last victory coming at Brentford in May 2022. It’s their second longest losing run in the capital in the top-flight, after a 12-game streak between March 1925 and September 1930.
- As mentioned, i’m expecting goals on Sunday and this one should be entertaining, i’m going to back the Bees just to edge it though given Leeds’ record here, having won just one of their last ten visits.
Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Brentford To Win, Brentford 2-1 Leeds.
