Premier League Betting Tips for Sunday 4th January

Premier League Puma Ball 2025-26

This midweek will see the Premier League get underway for Gameweek twenty of this campaign, with the table starting to take shape and a few teams already upsetting the apple cart, we’re all set for another weekend of pure PL drama.

@Footy_Tipster gives his best predictions ahead of this round of fixtures in the English Premier League..

We’re in for a busy day of Premier League football on Sunday with six games taking place across the country.

We head to Yorkshire first, where Manchester United make the short trip to reignite their fierce rivalry with Leeds United at Elland Road.

We then see three games kicking off at 3pm, Everton welcome Brentford to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Liverpool travel to the capital to face Fulham, Newcastle go head-to-head with Crystal Palace at St James’ Park, whilst Tottenham welcome high-flying Sunderland.

The weekends action will conclude at the Etihad Stadium, where Manchester City battle it out with Chelsea as they look to keep up with Arsenal at the Summit.

Now, let’s take a closer look at some Premier League odds and Premier League betting angles for Sunday’s fixtures:

Leeds United v Manchester United – Sunday, 12.30pm

Punters can bet on Leeds United v Manchester United with William Hill

  • After a slow start to the campaign, Leeds United have really started to show exactly what they are capable of in recent weeks, the Whites are now unbeaten in their last six Premier League games with two wins and four draws, including a goalless draw against Liverpool on Thursday night.
  • The pressure has started to lift off Daniel Farke with his side now seven points clear of the drop before they face their bitter rivals Manchester United on Sunday, one of the fiercest rivalries in England.
  • Leeds have won just one of their last nineteen Premier League games against Manchester United (D6 L12) and are winless in nine since a 1-0 home win in September 2002, whilst Farke has lost all three of his managerial meetings against Man United.
    ——————————–————————
  • Manchester United ended 2025 with a miserable 1-1 draw against a Wolves side that are still looking for their first win of the season, it’s not often the Old Trafford crowd boo their own but fans are beginning to turn on Ruben Amorim and who knows what happens here if United suffer defeat.
  • The Red Devils keep failing to capitalize on results elsewhere going in their favour and despite sitting sixth, they’ve already dropped more points from winning positions this season than they did the whole of last season, which is a big concern.
  • Manchester United have won their last two away league games against Leeds – they’ve never won three consecutive visits to Elland Road before, whilst they’re also unbeaten in their last twenty-five Premier League games against promoted sides since 2021.

Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Draw, Leeds United 2-2 Manchester United.

Everton v Brentford – Sunday, 3pm

Punters can bet on Everton v Brentford with William Hill

  • Everton are a totally different side this season after spending the last few years worrying about relegation, David Moyes is getting the best out of his players and having beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 on Tuesday night, the Toffees start 2026 in eighth place and dreaming of European football.
  • Just one point separates Everton from Brentford ahead of this meeting, the Toffees have won three of their last five meetings (D1, L1) on home soil against the Bees in all competitions, whilst they’ve lost none of the last six head-to-heads.
  • However, history suggests that Everton usually make a slow start to the New Year, having lost their first league game in seven of the last eight calendar years (D1), with their last victory coming against Southampton in 2017.
    ——————————–————————
  • Brentford head to Merseyside unbeaten in their last three Premier League games including their recent 0-0 draw against Tottenham on Thursday night but the Bees have taken twenty-one of their twenty-seven points so far whilst playing on home soil.
  • Keith Andrews’ side have the fourth best home record in the league but have really struggled away from home so far this season, they’ve won just two of their first nine away trips in the Premier League (L7) but they’ll be looking to build on their recent success on the road (2-0 v Wolves).
  • The Bees have visited Everton four times in the Premier League era and despite winning their first meeting 3-2 back in 2022, they’ve not won here since or in fact even scored a goal, i’m backing Everton to get the job done with a clean sheet.

Prediction: Everton To Win To Nil, Everton 1-0 Brentford.

Fulham v Liverpool – Sunday, 3pm

Punters can bet on Fulham v Liverpool with William Hill

  • Fulham extended their unbeaten run to three games in the Premier League on Thursday night after starting the year with a 1-1 draw away at Crystal Palace, with the Eagles coming from behind to secure a point and move them up to eleventh.
  • The Cottagers are now just three points behind the top six but victory in this one seems likely if you look at the history, with the Cottagers losing fifteen of their last nineteen Premier League games against the reigning Champions.
  • However, Fulham did win this fixture 3-2 back in April but they haven’t won back-to-back games home league games against Liverpool since May 2007, this one feels like a tough ask for Marco Silva’s side.
    ——————————–————————
  • Liverpool went into Thursday’s fixture against Leeds knowing a victory would secure five wins in a row as they look to get their season back on track but that didn’t go to plan, a toothless display meant the Reds played out an unlikely goalless draw, much to the Kop’s frustration.
  • Arne Slot will be hoping his side can bounce back on Sunday afternoon as they sit six points behind Aston Villa in fourth, the Reds have won four of their last seven visits to Craven Cottage in the Premier League (D2, L1).
  • This is a fixture i’m looking forward to as it rarely disappoints on the goals-front, the last four Premier League games between Fulham and Liverpool have produced a total of 20 goals, with both teams scoring at least twice in three of those four matches, whilst both teams have found the back of the net in ten of their last eleven games here in West London.

Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Liverpool To Win, Fulham 2-3 Liverpool.

Newcastle v Crystal Palace – Sunday, 3pm

Punters can bet on Newcastle v Crystal Palace with William Hill

  • Newcastle were able to bounce back from their disappointing 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford on Boxing Day with a 3-1 victory at Turf Moor on Tuesday night against Burnley, it was just their second away win of the campaign.
  • The Magpies return to St James’ Park where they’ve been brilliant this season, they’ve lost just two league games here so far this campaign (v Liverpool & Arsenal), whilst they welcome Crystal Palace on a ten game unbeaten run here across all competitions (W8, D2).
  • The Magpies tend to hold their own against the Eagles, they’ve lost just one of their last eight Premier League games against Crystal Palace (W3 D4), whilst they’ve won their last two meetings here 5-0 and 4-0.
    ——————————–————————
  • Crystal Palace will be hoping to start 2026 by putting an end to this awful run of form as the Eagles seem to be in freefall, they’ve now gone six games in all competitions without a victory with questions being asked over the depth of Oliver Glasner’s side.
  • The Eagles played out a 1-1 draw against Fulham on Thursday night but will travel to the North East hoping they can fare better than their last Premier League road trip, which ended in a 4-1 defeat at Leeds United.
  • Despite picking up six stalemates already in this Premier League campaign, the Eagles haven’t played out a draw in any of their last eight away games, whilst they’ve won just one of their last seven trips to St James’ Park, just one of the last ten meetings here have seen both teams find the back of the net.

Prediction: Newcastle United To Score Over 1.5 Goals, Newcastle 2-0 Crystal Palace.

Tottenham v Sunderland – Sunday, 3pm

Punters can bet on Tottenham v Sunderland with William Hill

  • Tottenham Hotspur travelled to Brentford on Thursday night with a chance to secure back-to-back victories in the Premier League since their first two games of the season but another disappointing display resulted in just a goalless draw.
  • The pressure is really on Thomas Frank with Spurs entering matchday twenty in twelfth place and return back to familiar surroundings where it’s simply not been good enough so far, having won just two of their nine games here, with a goal difference of 0.
  • The Tottenham fans should be hopeful of at least seeing a goal in this one though given they’ve scored in all but one of their last 62 Premier League games against promoted sides, whilst Spurs have scored in their last 46 home such matches since a 1-0 loss to Wolves in December 2009.
    ——————————–————————
  • Sunderland continued their impressive start to this Premier League campaign, the Black Cats extended their unbeaten run to four games with a third draw in a row on Thursday night against Manchester City, despite losing key players to AFCON.
  • The Black Cats remain just one of two sides (Arsenal) that are yet to taste defeat on home soil in the league but it’s a different story away from home, they’ve won just two of their nine away games so far since returning to the Premier League.
  • Despite their impressive return to the PL, i’m backing Tottenham to get all three points in this one simply down to their dominance of this fixture over the years, they’ve not lost any of their last fourteen competitive games against Sunderland (W10, D4).

Prediction: Tottenham To Win, Tottenham 1-0 Sunderland.
