The headline act of the Premier League weekend comes in the Merseyside derby as Liverpool lock horns with neighbours Everton.

With a host of matches on show up and down the country, we take a look at the pick of the action below.

Southampton welcome Chelsea to the South Coast

Chelsea will look to continue their hot streak under new manager Thomas Tuchel at St Mary’s. The Blues have been in great form under the German, winning five in a row and conceding just once.

The wheels have come off at Southampton, meanwhile, as they suffered a sixth straight League defeat at home to Wolves last time. That run includes a 9-0 hammering at the hands of Manchester United as Saints’ dreams of a push for European football have gone up in smoke in recent weeks.

It’s no surprise then that Chelsea are the 3/4 favourites as they try to cement their position in the top four. Timo Werner finally ended his goal drought when netting against Newcastle on Monday, and he is 19/10 to score anytime.

Southampton will be desperate to revive their season and are 15/4 to end their barren run. The clubs shared the spoils and six goals at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season, and the draw is 27/10.

Merseyside derby at Anfield

Expect fireworks as city rivals Liverpool and Everton clash in the Merseyside Derby at Anfield. This is a fixture that usually has its fair share of drama, and the Reds thumped five goals past the Toffees when winning 5-2 in this fixture last season.

It’s been an up and down a couple of months for both clubs, with Liverpool’s slump in the league all but ending their hopes of defending their title.

But they took control of their Champions League tie against Leipzig in midweek when winning 2-0 in impressive fashion away from home, with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane bagging the goals.

Everton edged a thriller against Spurs in the FA Cup last week, but have now suffered two straight defeats – on Sunday, a shock 2-0 defeat at the hands of relegation-threatened Fulham, and a 3-1 loss on Wednesday to league leaders Manchester City.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is set to return for the Blues, which will be a huge boost, and he is 5/1 to score first.

Liverpool remain 1/2 favourites, despite going five games without a win at home. Everton are 11/2 to come away with the bragging rights and three points, with the draw a 10/3 shot.

Leaders City travel to north London

Manchester City continue on their relentless run of form and head to north London with 16 straight wins under their belts. Pep Guardiola’s men have been sensational since the turn of the year and head to the Emirates to take on Arsenal with a healthy lead at the top of the table. As if the task ahead wasn’t tricky enough for the Gunners, midfield magician Kevin De Bruyne could make his return from injury this weekend.

Arsenal have been in good form themselves, and Aubameyang was back among the goals when bagging a hat-trick at home to Leeds in a 4-2 win. But City’s defence will not be anywhere near as leaky, as the Sky Blues have conceded just two goals in the league in 2021.

City dismantled Spurs last week and are hot 11/20 favourites to do the same to their north London rivals.

Arsenal are 5/1 for the win and they need the points if they are to keep their faint hopes of a top four finish alive. They’ve found their scoring boots of late, so both teams to score is 4/5, while the draw is 16/5.
