Premier League action continues to come thick and fast with plenty of exciting fixtures taking place this week.
We take a look at the standout matches over the next few days.
Can Leicester steady the ship?
Leicester City travel to Goodison Park on Wednesday evening ahead of an important clash against Everton.
Leicester (9/5 to win) have seemingly struggled in all three of their most recent games, picking up a draw against both Watford and Brighton followed by a loss at the hands of Chelsea in the FA Cup on Sunday. It wasn’t long ago that Leicester sat seven points clear of Chelsea in third and 10 points above the Europa League places, but now the Foxes sit just one point clear of Frank Lampard’s men and three points ahead of fifth-placed Wolves.
Everton, on the other hand, are starting to put together a good run of form under Carlo Ancelotti. The Toffees have managed to pick up four points in their last two games, with a draw coming against Liverpool and a hard-fought win against Norwich last week. Ancelotti will be confident heading into this fixture after having a full week to prepare his side, whereas Brendan Rodgers had only two full days to prepare due to FA Cup commitments. The Toffees are 31/20 favourites for victory.
Remarkably, Jamie Vardy has only scored two Premier League goals in 2020, but the Englishman is still just 6/5 to score anytime at Goodison and 7/2 to break the deadlock as he goes in search of his 100th Premier League goal. He is also still the favourite for the Premier League Golden Boot at 7/4, having scored 19 in the league this season.
Chelsea to inflict more misery on West Ham?
West Ham host Chelsea in yet another London derby in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
Back-to-back 2-0 losses against Wolves and Tottenham have put West Ham in a dangerous position in the Premier League table. The Hammers, 9/2 to win on Wednesday, currently sit outside the relegation zone only on goal difference and their task does not get any easier as they face an in-form Chelsea side. Earlier this season, however, West Ham left Stamford Bridge with all three points and they will be hoping they can produce another brilliant display this time round.
Chelsea, 4/7 for the win here, are in a completely different scenario to their London rivals with Frank Lampard’s side currently on a five-game winning streak in all competitions. Coming off two impressive displays against both Manchester City and Leicester, Chelsea will be looking to move above the Foxes and into third place with a win.
Chelsea are looking to end the season in strong fashion and firmly place themselves in the Champions League positions. The Blues are 2/7 to finish in the top four this season.
The Citizens welcome the champions
The newly crowned Premier League champions, Liverpool, will be welcomed with a guard of honour as they walk out at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday evening to take on Manchester City.
City fell to a 2-1 loss at the hands of Chelsea last week, which handed the title to Liverpool as a result. But City, 11/10 favourites on Thursday, bounced right back from defeat in typical fashion as they saw off Newcastle 2-0 in the FA Cup on Sunday and will be looking to spoil the party this time around against their rivals. Sadly for Pep Guardiola, he will be without key man Fernandinho due to the red card the Brazilian picked up at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool’s wait for a Premier League title finally came to an end after 30 years last week but they will not want to stop there. Jurgen Klopp’s side are on course to break almost every Premier League record as they look to put together a case for being the greatest Premier League side of all time.
Coming off a stylish 4-0 victory against Crystal Palace, the Reds will no doubt be ready to continue their run when they face City and are 9/4 for yet another win on Thursday.
