Premier League weekend preview: Tottenham, Arsenal and City to win?

| BY News Team

Approaching the quarter point in the season, the top teams are yet to pull away from the chasing pack. With more crucial games on the horizon, who has the determination to get their noses in front?

Here’s our preview of the pick of this weekend’s games.

Wolves v Manchester City

Having started the season not as sharply as some would have expected, Manchester City will be looking to kick on against Wolves. That being said, they are still unbeaten and have only dropped four points in their first six outings.

Wolves have begun as we have come to expect from them; organised, disciplined and resilient, however, their struggles in the final third look to be a continuing theme.

With Erling Haaland unwaveringly delivering goals, City don’t look to be under too much threat from the team that sits in 14th. However, a slow start against Dortmund in midweek does highlight a tendency for sloppy periods from the reigning league champions.

Pep Guardiola’s side are 3/10 to win, and with enhanced odds, they are 3/1 to win by three goals or more, with Haaland to score.

It does appear that it will be another routine outing for City, but Wolves are always likely to find space and prove dangerous on the counter. If they manage to early in the first half, they could nick a goal and should be considered to get on the score sheet.

Both teams to score is 17/20, and Pedro Neto and Kevin De Bruyne both to register an assist is 10/1.

Tottenham v Leicester

The unbeaten start to Tottenham’s season has been much talked about over the last few weeks but their impressive streak came to an end with a slightly humiliating loss to Sporting in the Champions League on Tuesday.

They face a Leicester side who have endured a torrid start to the season and look on the brink of serious change, whether that’s with the manager or players in their starting line-up. At the moment, it is hard to foresee the Foxes’ next move, with Brendan Rodgers having done so well in previous seasons and the quality in their ranks that is more than good enough for a top half finish.

Taking one point from their opening six matches, Leicester are projected for another loss here and are 11/2 to take three points. Spurs are 4/9 to register another win and continue their unbeaten Premier League streak though it remains to be seen if the midweek loss will affect their confidence.

It is more likely to spur them on though, and Antonio Conte is certainly known for his stern team talks. Their lethal front three could have a field day if Leicester fail to get organised again and a high-scoring affair on Spurs’ part looks to be very much on the cards. It is only 7/1 for the match to feature six or more goals with Tottenham 13/8 to win to nil.

Harry Kane and Heung-min Son are 21/10 to register over four shots on target combined, with the front men 17/20 and 6/4 to score at any time respectively.

Brentford v Arsenal

Starting the season playing some of the best football seen during the Mikel Arteta era, with five wins out of five, there wasn’t much any rival fan could say about the Gunners, other than that their flawless start couldn’t last.

Facing a Manchester United going through change and turmoil, it seemed it wouldn’t take much to extend that winning streak to six, but against the Red Devils, refreshed under Erik ten Hag and playing a starting 11 without Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo, things didn’t go as planned for the north London side.

Still top of the table with five wins out of six, Arsenal are in a great position and go into this tough fixture against an in-form Brentford as the firm 4/5 favourites. Arteta has recruited one the best squads Arsenal have had in recent times, and if the results continue, it will look like the owner’s patience with the Spaniard has finally paid off.

His showpiece summer signing Gabriel Jesus has hit the ground running, and the Brazilian is the favourite to net his fourth Premier League goal of the season by scoring first in the tie at 5/1 with enhanced odds.

Brentford cannot be overlooked here though, as they have also played some magnificent football in their opening six games, winning two, drawing three and occupying the eighth spot approaching the quarter point in the season. The Bees are establishing themselves as a threatening side in the league and 10/3 odds for a victory here will surely tempt some Arsenal doubters.

Much of their good start they owe to the form of the impressive Ivan Toney, who this week earned his first call-up to the England team. He is 7/1 to score first with enhanced odds, while he is 6/4 to score anytime and take his tally for the season to six goals in seven games.
